Midfielder Ryan Woods is back at Hull City after his loan spell at League One side Bristol Rovers was cut short despite an expectation the 30-year-old would remain at the Memorial Stadium for the duration of the campaign.

Woods' last appearance for Rovers came in the 3-2 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers on New Year's Day, his eighth start of the season in the South West, he made 16 in total.

The experienced midfielder, who joined City last summer, was signed by former Rovers boss Joey Barton but he was sacked in late October after a poor run of form left them perilously close to the League One relegation zone, and since the arrival of Matt Taylor, Wood's opportunities have been limited.

"The 30-year-old joined in August, and has made 16 appearances for the Gas," Rovers said in a short statement. "The club would like to thank Woodsy for his efforts during his time here, and wish him the best of luck going forward."

Despite returning to City, Woods will not feature in Liam Rosenior's plans moving forward and it's expected he will agree another loan move elsewhere.

The last two sentences of this article definitely made me smile.

I think that is the best outcome for the player and the club.

We’re in a position with Woods where, because we signed him on a 3+1-year-deal on presumably a decent amount, League 1 clubs can’t afford his full wage so won’t sign him permanently and Championship clubs don’t want him. So he’ll probably be loaned out until his contract ends.

If you come in Ebeneezers there are tables for transfers, discussing xGs etc, the weather…
I always head for the beer table where you will find TwoWrights and Steve Rico. Though they sometimes go off topic and discuss other things.
Bleeding radiators and dripping washers?

Also, look at pics of Woods from pre-season. Fatter than Tufan and Connolly ever was. Had love handles, moobs and a beer belly squished into that Kappa shirt.

Delap out for at least two to three months.

You'd expect us to look at a replacement now, despite the suggestion earlier in the week that we weren't going to.

Realistically, giving him time to get up to speed and so on this means Easter. Possibly back for the last half dozen or so games. Probably though, it's season over.
