Just imagine if you knew who'd be good! You could make millions every summer, and replace for a small percentage. But it doesn't work like that.
Remember how exciting Dani Osvaldo was, all that talent, but complete nob head! Always on the verge of drama. Not worth the risk, but worth double if it worked! That's the fun I suppose.
The ones we have been most excited about (Gaston/Osvaldo/Boufal) tend to be a bit **** haha. Wasn't a major fuss when Van Dijk or Mane joined but they turned out alright!

I knew a fair bit about Mane, and I thought he was going to be trouble. He was a pussycat compared to Dani! <laugh>
I try not to get too excited, and also give the less prestige player a chance, if you get the balance right it can be rather satisfying.
Never liked Gaston though, something about him that rubbed me up the wrong way from the start. Guly used to get some hate, but I kinda understood him on a bad day, Gaston, I just didn't get it.

I thought Mbabu was a RB? I remember watching Young Boys in a Europa League game against an English side and they were raving about him, I'm sure he was playing RB and was absoloutely rapid.

Thiago Mendes is too good for us, will go somewhere else if he moves.

Yes, I saw him play and he looked good but definitely a right back!

We spent about £35m on Carrillo and Elynoussi - it isnt that he is out of our financial realm. It is that we waste money on loads of ****e or average players instead of getting fewer top quality players. Could have bought Felipe Anderson with that money, and paid his wages.
Any thoughts on Carrillo getting a recall, bearing in mind our fragile forward line? At least we know about him, and with the new coaching set up etc, probably worth a shout. We’re paying a fair chunk of his salary after all.

Might not have a recall clause but doubt it even if he did. Ralph has complained of a lack of pace amongst our squad so i doubt he will eat up any of our budget brining back a player that is about as slow as they come

Yeah, again, Carrillo has some strengths, but they bear zero resemblance to what Hasenhuttl would want in a striker. Carrillo's playing for a team that suits him: they hoof it to him so frequently that he's averaging an insane 17.6 aerial challenges per 90 minutes, which leads La Liga handily. He would be utterly useless in our approach, because we are not a team that intends to hoof the ball.

I would have thought that Gabbi was a RH type of striker and he hasn’t had a look in and looks set to be sold.

Suspect that's down to attitude. Gabbiadini also doesn't appear to be blessed with 90 minutes of stamina.

I understand the point you make and agree in part, my concern is with Ings in and out, Austin likewise and Long unable to buy a goal, if this window throws nothing up, it might be Hobson’s choice.

Sadly I suspect you’re right. There’s got to be a reason that he has barely played for us under successive managers despite being our most gifted striker.

If we get shot of Austin and Gabbi we have Ings (always injured) Long (barely counts) and Gallagher. Defintely would suggest another will be joining us. Still doubt we will sell Austin.
