RIP Gerry. Saw him play at the Cavern in 1962 when the Beatles were still "The Silver Beatles" and merited a small three line ad in the Echo. At that time the Pacemakers were viewed as the archetypal Liverpudlian group and were as well known and popular locally as the ultimately globally famous foursome.
Gerry never lost his Liverpool accent and his song "You'll Never Walk Alone" is world famous as the anthem of the Liverpool football team to be sung at every match. Gerry...RIP Son...safe journey on your last "Ferry Cross the Mersey". I'll miss you.
