That hopefully comes with confidence though, he's now on a scoring run so should help.
He was missing good chances left right and centre even when he was smashing them away at the start of the season if I remember right.

QPR game and Sheff Utd spring to mindHe was missing good chances left right and centre even when he was smashing them away at the start of the season if I remember right.
Smith’s first goal reminded me of Fryatt. Rounded the keeper then squeezed it into an open net from a narrow angle. Fryatt wasn’t blessed with pace or strength but was a decent finisher. I don’t think I’ve seen Tyler Smith miss a sitter, unless I’m mistaken. I’ve seen Longman and even Óscar miss a few glaring ones though. Tyler Smith might actually be our most composed finisher when it comes to one-on-one situations.
Compare that with say, Darwin Núñez and Timo Werner who manage to get themselves into great positions but can’t finish a one-on-one if their lives depended on it.
I said after the first few games when people were excited as he topped the GS charts that I did not rate him and felt he had been lucky with some of the goals. In hindsight he is better than lucky, he gets in the right places and is a 'handful' but way off what we need to be competing in the Championship for a play off spot for me.Yeah he’s not the most technically sound. Imperious in the air though which makes up for it. Can see why premier league sides didn’t take a punt on him as a free agent though, got quite clear gaps in his game that’d make him struggle at present.
I think that’s a bit harsh on a, near enough, 1 in 2 striker in a bottom half team.I said after the first few games when people were excited as he topped the GS charts that I did not rate him and felt he had been lucky with some of the goals. As his goal showed against Wigan he messes up many chances, a better defence than Wigan would have stopped him there. His heading game is his best asset and I have a feeling Rosenior has been trying to use crosses to make the most of that until he finds a striker this month. Smith is a far better finisher but seems to lack pace and positional awareness required to do it consistantly at this very high level. Having Oscar as a bench option to a proper striker would be nice, and I would also only look to loan Smith out at the minute as there is something in him which might develop.
I love Oscar, but he's no Hernandez (who's record for us in the Championship was 28 goals in 49 games).
https://www.independent.ie/sport/so...e-and-establish-a-proper-career-42260241.htmlWhat is that from and what's the context? Seems rather odd to group Allam and Acun managers together.
I think they're very different types of strikers to be fair. Hard to compare their attributes.
Abel, in his day, would have scored more, in the same team, than Oscar.
I think Ros has seen a little something in him and since he came, has given him more minutes. Tyler does seem to have responded. He’s not gonna be a world beater, but maybe (just maybe), he could kick on as a useful squad player (we seem to forget it’s about squads now, not just the first XI.)He’s a central player though his movement is non stop. Im not saying he’s the answer but since Ros came in he’s looked better imo. Set Christie on his way for the Brum goal, he keeps the ball pretty well and if you’re chasing a game going 2 up front with his runs in behind you’ll at the very least create chances. I’d keep him around til summer at least after last 2 games.
You sometimes know by the player’s body language before, when he is going to miss a penalty. Oscar was always gonna miss it. He looked scared ****.If he could hit the ball cleanly he’d be on about 20 by now, but seems to struggle when he has time to think. Even managed to scuff his penalty the other week.
How do you arrive at that when Hernandez played in a better City side?
