Indeed, he always reminds me of fryatt when I see him shoot. Funny enough he seems more clinical on his weaker foot, Brum and West Brom away come to mine.

His anticipation and positioning are prem level, and like you say he’s lethal in the air. I think, like most of the players, he seems much fitter under Rosie so hopefully he continues to improve.

Think it comes down to what you said earlier in the thread. He's so instinctive with the first touch the minute he has to think about it he can fluff his lines

I already made reference to that quote previously. You'd hope he does come here or Liam will have egg on his face. That doesn't change the fact that 'all other' journalists have not said it's a done deal.

Pretty sure he's not from Finland. Nuneaton I think.

If his (Fryatt's) equalizer in the FAC semi was a scuff, then it was the best scuffed goal I've ever seen :emoticon-0102-bigsm

He did scuff his shots but 9 times out of 10, they were on target. I keep seeing clips on social media of Darwin Núñez missing two or three glaring opportunities every game after Liverpool play. It’s insane. He’ll get himself into great positions, line up a shot into the far corner and cleanly strike it miles wide. One went out for a throw-in against Brentford. I’d take a scuffed shot on target that trickles in like Fryatt’s over Núñez’s cleanly-hit shots that end up closer to the corner flag than the goal.

Oscar is the best forward we’ve had since Hernandez, and we got him on a free.
    It’s insane.

Yep, there's got to be an art to it. As a teenager at the time I thought he lacked technique and was getting lucky, but it can't be a coincidence when it keeps finding the net. Around the same time, Aaron McLean was the opposite, he'd always strike through the ball with his laces but rarely find the net with it.

For me he's better than Hernandez. He's on track to match or even beat Abel's goalscoring at this level and he offers a lot off the ball at times too, which Hernandez didn't do enough, and which I always thought he got away with in terms of our fans' view of him. Remember Bruce calling him out for it at one point.

What did Sir Alex Ferguson used to say? Something about aiming for the keeper’s eyes when striking the ball? Of course, the best strikers in the world have perfected their craft and can aim their shots where they want AND hit the ball cleanly. However, getting your shot on target should be a priority as a forward, not how cleanly you strike the ball. That Núñez kid, it almost seems like he’s putting too much effort into hitting the ball perfectly with his laces and doesn’t actually think about where the ball will end up when he hits it. In fact, if you watch him closely, he doesn’t pay attention at all to where the goal is or his surroundings. He has his head down and just drills it.

I've started tracking on Twitter the City forwards he's already overtaken for league goals for the club, and how many games quicker than them he's doing it.

Abel was good at facing up his man, shifting the ball half a yard to get the shot away and finding the corner of the net, he had the ability to do something special and unexpected which Ive not seen from Oscar yet, fingers crossed with the aid of some fully fit out and out wingers we can see even more form Oscar but no doubt he has great movement, great heading ability and tenacity that I feel helps create his own luck.

Abel definitely had more in his locker on the ball. But Oscar imposes himself miles more on the game I think is the point. But yeah I’d agree on that.

As posted before Oscar hasn’t scored a single chance that wasn’t a reactive snap shot or a header.

He’s been played through on goal more times already this season than any striker I can remember since **** knows when too, probably Fraizer Campbell in his first spell.

That hopefully comes with confidence though, he's now on a scoring run so should help.

Even then, we had Sam Clucas who was a lower league kid who came in and started most of our games. I'm sure at the time people were saying he wasn't good enough to start for us.
