I think our recruitment will focus more heavily on injury history, particularly muscle injuries.
I’ve said before that I’d like Bielik as a ball-winning defensive mid in the summer but I think the fact he he’s had two ACL tears on the same knee will make Rosenior quite wary of signing such a player given he’s expressed concern regarding signing players with a history of serious injuries.
Bielik is a great footballer, but given our injury woes it’s just too much of a gamble to rely on a player like that.
For me, we have the worst kinds of injuries in terms of length. It’s not as though we had all season ending injuries in October, at least you can plan ahead for that kind of stuff and sign loan players in January etc to cover the gaps. Our injuries seem to be ones where they get close to coming back and then have a setback, or they are out for a month or so, then come back and then get injured again for another month with the transfer window shut. It’s not just injury records we need to look at, but how well these players recover once injured.
I remember Craig ***an getting Danny Guthried in the shins and I’m sure he played on with a broken leg.
