It’s not that footballers are soft, it’s that medical precautions have improved and we know the impact of letting players play with injury. Football has increased in intensity since I started watching it, there’s more sprints, turns etc that have more impact on the muscles. Footballers don’t want to be injured, they can’t progress if they are. There’ll be some that don’t give a ****, but most want to be out there and playing while injured, however heroic some might think it is, is not a smart move.
Where did I say that? Anyone that thinks Rosenior is completely honest in interviews is kidding themselves.
Oh OK. So if the official line from the club is that a ball bounced awkwardly off his toe leading to an injury that's kept him out for now months then what are we supposed to assume? Goes without saying there must've been a complication but considering we sent baxter back cos he was made of glass and are talking up robustness in recruitment it's not looking great for him is it?
When Connolly is deemed fit to play, I presume he will be told to make a nuisance of himself but under no circumstances kick the ball.
OK, but why are you confident in saying that if he does have a broken toe that it is not due to a ball bouncing off of it?
Because you don't break a bone from a football bouncing off it. Maybe a finger if you jar it in a particular way but not a toe.
I mistimed a volley once (well I always mistimed volleys but once in particular) it came off my toe with it extended in a certain way and I was hobbling around for a couple of weeks with a sprain. I wouldn't say it was impossible but a pretty rare likelihood. It's not the fact that he's done it I'm concerned about, more the fact he's still not available and it just seems to be one setback after the other, at a time he really needs to be proving himself.
Don't you think it's more likely he has kicked an immovable object like a wall, kerb, concrete pillar?
A sprain. Not a break. Stop trying to argue this lol. He's had setbacks in the timeframe for his recovery, something pretty common with broken toes because treatment is almost impossible.
That's how I broke mine the first time! Kicking a wall in futsal. Second time was on a football field, but was someone's stud connecting with my big toe knuckle in a rather painful way.
It's not really an argument when I'm directly quoting the manager. There's only speculation that it could have been something else that caused it. Latest update in HDM saying he's now ill.
