Hang on, what hype? Where has it been suggested he’s the next CR7 or Rivaldo? He’s a highly rated prospect we’re in line to get relatively cheap. Babel would want a lot of money and for a 36 year old winger with an injury hit past and a questionable disciplinary record, would you not rather pay half that for a current 20 year old international who has already spent six months settling in at the club?
From what I’ve seen of Al, he’s direct, he runs with the ball and he heads forward, as opposed to most of our forward players who don’t seem predisposed to play towards the opposition goal. The two games he’s played he’s been put as a number 10, which isn’t his position, he plays as a wide man in a front 3 or as a striker. So from 50 odd minutes of him playing, I don’t think he’s done that badly at all.
If it was a straight up choice between Babel and Allahyar, I’d take the latter everyday of the week.
I don’t know who’s suggesting he’s the next ‘CR7’
or Rivaldo? If he hadn’t have had a single touch of the ball in those 50 minutes he couldn’t have done any worse. There seems to be regular calls for him in the match threads and an air of excitement about him but case in point nobody can come up with a single clip of him even showcasing a decent touch of the ball in a Hull City shirt, let alone making a positive contribution, because he hasn’t done anything yet. Granted, it’s 50 minutes, but I would bet a pound to a pinch of dog **** Babel would have showed a few nice touches, made a few nice passes, maybe tested the keeper once or twice in that time, rather than run around like a headless chicken giving away silly fouls.
Fenerbahce rate him so highly he’s made 3 appearances in 30 months and didn’t get registered for their squad.
So once again I ask what people are basing this opinion of him on. Maybe he must have good stats on video games?
