Just looking ahead, Sayyadmanesh is likely to be playing for Iran in the World cup. If he is as good as we are being told, better to get him tied down to a contract before he is in the shop window in Qatar.

Yeah if he does well over the next six months suspect it'll be a 4/5 year deal, and then if he bangs at the WC, oh boy!

Well that wasn't a bad window at all tbh, I had a worry that we'd splash cash recklessly but what we have done is good business imho, 2 decent looking strikers to add to what we have and reinforcements in midfield, surprised we didn't look at bringing in defensive cover, but generally I'm happy with what we got there. Sensible acquisitions without being silly, well done to all involved.

Very happy with that.
Kept KLP and signed Longman hopefully Baxter in the summer.
Strengthened in the areas we needed. Though I would have liked to have seen an experienced centre back but our current back three are young and are injury free and with Coyle and Jones to come back we should be fine and that’s clearly how the coaching team see it.
Onwards and upwards.

Im surprised there were not more than just smith (unless I missed it) out of the door. 5 in, 1 out.

There must be players that will be nowhere near the match day squad. Midfield especially.

Good window, definitely strengthened.

So we got the passing mobile midfielder I wanted , let’s hope his best years are with us , so often in the past we get them before their good or after!!

I remember it too.
At first Meyler wasn't going to name names, but with a bit of a push he did.
Really disappointing to hear - not meaning Meyler naming names but that our players would do that .... but as Syd commented, more than likely, and understandably, due to the way the club was being run at the time - it was an utter shambles).
Are you really so naive to think this sort of thing doesn’t happen regularly at most clubs?
The sainted nick barmby certainly engineered a few moves away from clubs

We do have an option on Bernard but it's nowhere near as attractive as the longman one, he's rated pretty highly back at man utd.

Longman has surprised everyone this season and Brighton are a little annoyed let's say with the fee they got from us as they had a couple of larger offers from elsewhere in the championship but we already had the fee agreed in his loan agreement.

Decent window but not earth shattering I'd say. Time wasn't on our side even though we'd done a lot of work in the background prior to the takeover. They are loans to see us through to summer and leave us in a much better place, there is belief with a great run and huge amounts of luck that a top 6 place is doable, but the more realistic view is that shota & tan now have 6mnths to fully access the current squad and have everything we need for next season lined up ready to be done in the summer

Nothing here to blow your socks off especially after a takeover. Suprised at so many loans, however it’s nice to be part of the drama on deadline day again. I thought we’d see more foreign players aswell. We haven’t lost any key players which makes a change.
It’s probably a win on the day

People always talk as if cairney was the same player he is now when he left us, but he's improved dramatically since then.

But that also doesn't mean he'd have still improved at the same rate if he'd have stayed.

Sometimes players just need a move to kick on - otherwise we could all still be moaning that all he does is pass sideways.
Yeah he lost about a stone and decided to run for a change and actually tackle !

Solid window some interesting signings and pretty creative. Not sure how we keep all happy without disrupting the team - but that’s football . The bench could be interesting !!

I'd go one further, he wasn't good enough for a team getting promoted out of the championship. Decent servant when we were mid-table but when Bruce built a promotion side he wasn't good enough for that midfield. He never really reached that level even later in his career. Nice goal against Leeds mind.

Any goal against TWS is nice.<laugh>
