Presumably need to get rid (or pay off) EFL Transfer Embargo before any announcement. What's happening with Slater?
Sheffield airport shut. What's happening with Slater?
Signed yesterday 2 1/2 year contract. What's happening with Slater?
Since about 2010 - we’ll never sign him!Sheffield airport shut.
Elder got more support from KLP than on the other flank but generally in a 433, full backs are exposed. Remember Elder was in the League One team of the year last season. He seems to have been in and out with injuries this season. TBH I thought the wingback role was made for him. but again kept getting injured.KLP helps Elder, Wilks didn't help Coyle. Elder hasn't been good when played in the wing back role either...
I will take a couple off your hands. Most airlines ceased operations yesterday and every single flight out of Istanbul is currently showing as cancelled, other than one internal flight due to leave at 5pm tonight.
The whole place is shut down, I've got thousands of polo shirts due to leave this week, but none of the transporters are working and the factory workers can get in to pack the goods anyway.
We don't need another full back so we can change back to being a 4-3-3 club
We need another full back so we can play a different formation other than 3-5-2 if the particular game or collection of fit players we have makes it a better choice.
Presumably the Regan Slater deal hasn't been announced yet because the EFL solicitors haven't concluded the paperwork to lift the transfer embargo.
Given the period of time it took between "unofficial" and "official" announcements of the takeover, we may be doing a lot of very late deals.
I'm not adverse to 4-3-3, my issue is that the current formation has been getting the best out of a number of our current players, KLP, Williams and Longman look different players as wing backs rather than wingers, being able to attack from deep and utilising their great athletic abilitis to get up and down, the 3 lads playing cb have been incredible as well, Bernard and Greaves having the freedom to get forwards has added a lot to our game, in a back 4 you're having to drop one of them - prob McLoughlin so you have a right and left footed cb pairing which would be mental as he's been bloody brilliant recently, in the middle that extra defender has meant Smallwood isn't dropping deeper and deeper and his performances since have been brilliant, which has in turn freed up Docherty and Honeyman, finally, up top Eaves having a strike partner has made a massive difference to him too. At Championship level I don't think we've got the players to play 4-3-3 and be as effective as we have been with 3 at the back.
With 433 under Grant, I always felt we played the back line too deep, you need to minimise the space between the defensive and midfield and also midfield with the forward line. We often got overrun in midfield because there was too much space between the back line and the midfield line, and consequently, the midfield and the forward line, that is why we had very few shots on target. With 433 you have to work as a unit, moving up when attacking and dropping back together when defending.
I agree we currently don't have the players that suit 433.
We have a whole squad who can. But we do need a couple in at the sharp ends of the pitch to make it work.
So want percentage of transfer revenue does Allan’s have?
Smallwood and Huddlestone should have a big influence in the first few weeks. This week especially.I agree, it's mainly up top where we need the right players, midfield and defense, coached correctly, can make it work. It will be very interesting to see how Shota gets them organised.
