I won't get ahead of myself, but if we were to sign both players, then might we finally have replaced Pelle and Mane? 18 months late, mind...

(I don't know much about either player, but from reading about them, they don't sound too dissimilar from Pelle and Mane respectively)

Reckon Promes net wages are well above what 55k p/w in the UK would bring, actually. We'd probably need to approach 100k a week to really make a run, alongside the nearly 30m in fee.

Naturally, we're probably willing to offer 20m to Spartak and a juicy 60k to Promes.

If he's getting paid in Roubles, his wages are basically worth two lorries full of cabbages and all the plutonium he can carry.

He's probably getting paid in Faberge eggs and caviar, but still.

There are a lot of players on the fringes of their World Cup squads and not getting regular football.
Lucas, Sturridge, Giroud etc

I can see us getting a player in that situation in on loan, because unlike the clubs who have the money, we can offer the playing time.

Might as well ask, like in the Alderweireld case!

Heh, I'd be surprised if any foreign players in the Russian league had ever seen a ruble.

Depends what it's being tempered with. If it's paired with a lowish release clause, probably not that much. Of course, then we'd be taking all of that risk on our own shoulders.
I'd like to think that we've been savvy enough to incorporate drastic salary reductions in the event of relegation on all of these lucrative contracts we now have our squad signed to or we could end up with a load of Rodwells.

I'd imagine that we have, though drastic would still leave them as rather expensive for that level...a 40% reduction in our wage bill would still be tops in the Championship.

The problem, as you mentioned, is that it's difficult to recruit players that way .The option then becomes to provide them some sort of surety that they'd be sold cheaply if it did happen...but then you end up with the fun of spending a couple years paying off the transfer fee on a player you had to dump.

I disagree. Hoedt and Stephens are our CB pairing imo, & Yoshi is good enough cover. Especially with Romeu and Lemina in front of them.

Goalscorers are what we urgently need.
I disagree with your disagreement. The current options are not strong enough. Lacks leadership and strength in the air.
