Those people weren't ever fans - they were just tourists. Anyone who went to any of our games at Wembley know this, we were surrounded by tourists, people just there for the day out; they didn't know any of the songs, they didn't join in, they didn't even care who won. These people are no great loss, they aren't 'fickle fans' because they were never fans in the first place.

There are clips on YouTube of City at Hillsborough in 2004, a night match just before Christmas - so many fans there that they had to delay the kick-off TWICE to get them all in, so many fans that they had to open 'the wing' on the Leppings Lane end to fit us all in, something that they hadn't done for years; this is the match that Boaz Myhill still says was the greatest atmosphere he'd ever played in - those fans all knew the songs, they cared who won. The pity is, a lot of those fans who were there that night are no longer going - these are the ones we miss, not the PL tourists.
had to be done.....

I agree Wilks has only been here a year but I think the previous poster's point that he has worked with McCann for over 2 years was still valid, and I must admit I don't see much evidence of his (awful) decision making improving over the course of a year. He seems to me to have as much potential as KLP, except he just doesn't seem as bright on a football pitch. Maybe that will be his limit but as you say he's only 21 so you'd like to think the faults aren't ingrained.
I can't ever remember a City player who I have so wanted to replay a game to on video, and freeze frame regularly to make him aware of the choices he had if only he'd looked up!

For a bit of balance, Grant's the only manager who's really got anything out of Wilks. I also felt we saw the best Bowen under Grant too, they did a lot of work on his right foot and it showed. Seems to remember hearing they're working on Wilks' weak foot too.

Wilks is going through a sticky patch at the minute but he's still our most dangerous attacker. The lad's only just turned 22, he's s got years and years to improve yet. He's a much better rounded player than the one who walked through the door though

We'd lost 4,000 fans while still in the Premier League and our Championship attendances had more than halved by last season, if you don't think the owners have had the biggest impact on our attendances, then you really haven't been paying attention.

Exactly! Whilst it would be understandable for any team to lose a number of fans when their team has suffered two recent relegations I don't think this is THE major reason for our reduced numbers. Of greater concern is the number of fans who have been supporting Hull City for several decades and throughout the leagues who now no longer attend (or rather still wouldn't attend even if attendance was possible).

18 months,

Jordan Flores has agreed an 18-month deal with Hull City after passing a medical, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 25-year-old is set to return to England.
A source at the KCOM Stadium has told Football Insider that Flores has passed a medical and agreed to sign an 18-month contract.
This site revealed yesterday that the midfielder was on

Flores scored twice in Dundalk’s Europa League campaign this season, registering a goal and an assist against Arsenal in October.

In the 2019/20 campaign he scored four goals in 16 appearances, with his wonder-strike against Shamrock Rovers earning him a nomination for the 2020 Puskas Award.

Flores rose up the ranks at Wigan Athletic and made his debut for the north-west side against Brentford in May 2015.

However, he only made 12 first-team appearances for the Latics before loan spells at Blackpool, Chesterfield, Fylde and Swedish side Ostersund.

In January 2019 he left the DW Stadium on a permanent basis and joined Dundalk on a two-year deal.

The Englishman has been coveted by a number of EFL clubs over the past 12 months with MK Dons and Burton Albion interested in signing him in the summer.

However, he is now set to join a Grant McCann side looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Hull are currently second in League One after a 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday night.

The Tigers face Fleetwood Town tonight before welcoming Blackpool to the KCOM Stadium on Saturday – a game in which Flores could make his debut.

We had sell out attendances in the Championship. Sometimes it takes a golden egg like getting into the PL to attract new supporters. To keep them you have to engage with them and work with them, not as our owners have done which is alienate them at every opportunity. As I have said previously I’m involved in grass roots football - 3-4 years ago over half the 25 players we coach on a Saturday morning would have a City kit on of some description. Now there’s one. It’s a crying shame - but that blame lies on the doorstep of two people.
**** me!!! There's more City tops on display in my Daughters back garden in the summer months when the grandkids are out playing:emoticon-0102-bigsm Then again that's down to who buys them ie:- Me.

Just out of interest, are they sporting other Clubs colours?

Liverpool/Man U mostly Man City. My lad is the only one - I’ve made that non negotiable <laugh> it wouldn’t have taken much engagement to keep that support or most of it.

Some of your post may touch on the relationship between Owner,Coach and fans but you've totally failed to factor in that some fans don't find League 1 football worthy of support. We've always had fickle fans as have most Clubs? It's easy and fashionable to blame Allam and McCann for falling fan base because no-one is actually man enough to admit that they won't support at this level ....I've said it before and I'll say it again,if we were back in the Premier League, bums would be back on seats.Yes,there'd still be complaints about the owners(some justified, some not) but they'd be back in their droves.

hence the reduced gates, think that's called factoring even if not mentioned directly!

Not knocking tonight's win, but that first half was a great advertisement for the quality V quantity debate.

Did Mayer offer more than Salam did?
Would Sheaf have been any worse than Slater?

I think it's been tough on Mayer, he's obviously got something about him but the way we play he gets absolutely nothing out of his teammates. He didn't touch the ball for the first half an hour, despite making a few decent runs, but we've said before about crap decision making in our team. Salam didn't really do much, but he looked bright and confident, another one with potential that needs to get out and play football.

I don't really rate Slater at all, but again, he's not been in the team much so I don't blame him for being substandard.
