Who's said he's a world beater?

I was just highlighting that one good performance and a good goal doesn't suddenly make him a good player. His passed teams have been Wigan, Blackpool, Chestfield & Fylde. He spent 5 years at Wigan played 11 times and scored one goal, during that time sent out of loan to the other clubs and made 35 appearances and scored 4 goals.

Was a youth player at Wigan. He's 25, had 2 years getting back from significant injury, so you're really judging what he did in the English league based on him being an under 23.

Ash got relegated from football league, Daws got relegated from league 1. They turned out **** didn't they?

Last time we got promoted from this league (back to back remember) we didn't have the best first 11, but we had the strongest squad. 2 players could hold their own in every position and a defined way of playing.

You don't have to be ****ing Brazil to win this league, just consistent.

Let's think about the championship when we get there. Some will step up, some won't and we'll need to recruit for that league to re-establish ourselves in it over time....

When we get there. There's a core of youth with a season or two more experience and a bit of confidence that comes with a promotion and we'll have a starting point.

We won't be challenging for PL promotion the season we do get get back up though. We'll have to build.

Don't forget you take these players on contract, so if we did get promoted then you have to offload them if you can to get better players for the next level. What I am saying, is if you have the ambition to go back up then you have to plan, and I would rather see 2 or 3 more players of better quality in the side.

I think we just have to wait and see, I hope I am wrong and he turns out to be a great signing. As Tickles used to say TWT.

They become squad players or play the ugly roles in the team getting the most from the flair players.

You need a blend to make a team. You need the workhorses, the physical players, the organisers, the experience as well as energy and talent.

Half of the 2008 promotion side barely stayed up the season before. Not all will step up, some will and others will fill gaps and do a job when future signings get injured. Others will go on loan or be sold if they can't cope with the level. Others might just stick around, do their badges and become coaches like Mann, Dawson etc...

Not all signing work out, but as often as I've seen that happen I've seen fans scapegoat players become legends like delaney, Ash etc. Still remember the irony seeing Marney playing on MOTD every week after our fans berated him til he left and we got relegated.

Our current cult hero was berated most of last season.

You can't write off a player before he's kicked a ball. Flores clearly has ability. Slagging him before he's even signed just frankly stinks of prejudice.

Excuse me. I am not slagging him off and accusing me of being prejudice is out of order. I am just making a point that in my opinion would should be looking for better quality and from his past record I'm not sure he is. How is that "stinking of prejudice"?????

Maybe I'm making generalisations based on experience of city fans over the years, if so I apologise, but I still would like to know who you bring in, under salary cap at an age we can get a sell on fee for who'd come down to League 1 when there's a plethora of better paid international options out there??

He's coming in as backup for George. He won't be the only signing this window. How do you know who else we're looking at where we really do need strengthening as opposed to merely cover, and how do you know what the transfer budget is?

He looks to me like he has at least some quality about him - with a clear stroke at goal if nothing more.

We are where we are, and it doesn't yet seem to have sunk in amongst too many IMHO. We're not a parachute funded, top 6 budget championship club anymore. That's where we really spaffed our cash on overpaid average players if you ask me.

Apology accepted. I don't see him as a back up for George, he apparently is to replace Adelakun? I would just like to see KLP situation resolved as that is more pressing IMO.

Just for clarity - I doubt we are interested in the Donny player from Shrewsbury. It was just connected to a tweet that had a variety of goals scored by Flores that I posted.

I think people are maybe just frustrated that it seems we're only interested in adding to the squad, rather than looking to improve the starting XI.

I get the quality over quantity argument - Slater and Mayer have done OK for us, but have they added more than a, say, Sheaf and Chadwick would have? By saving on two lots of wages, it could go towards paying for a better calibre of one player for a starting spot. But who is to say Slater and Mayer won't contribute more in future games. I expect both to feature tonight.

I think it's fair to say we need a left-sided forward to replace Adelakun & to sort out KLP's contract situ. Back-up for Honeyman (Flores?), someone to challenge Wilks and a new starting centre-forward.

I also agree with those who said it would be nice to see us take advantage of the current situation in football and bring in some promising young players who can develop and make the step up: Kyle Joseph at Wigan and Kwame Poku at Colchester look great prospects.

We have flair players,...... go figure!!!!

The 'ambition' is now in the young players but they're going to have to be supported, developed and nurtured. The likes of Scott, Wilks, Greaves, Burke, Samuelsen, KLP all need time and development but there's our future.

You also need a coach that can develop them. Not sure I get that from McCann - Wilks the main case in point.

He's got the ability, but just looks like he's left to do whatever he feels he wants to do. Often leading to poor decision making.

We were spoilt seeing Bowen develop, but once he got game time it was clear to see him grow into a well-rounded player who knew when was the time to take it on himself and when was the time to shoot.
If you count his time at Doncaster too, McCann has had Wilks for 2 and a half years and although he causes problems and gets goals, but he's still making the same mistakes he's always made.

I'm not knocking him/sagging him off, he's a good player and one of our best, even on a bad day. The frustration comes from the fact you can see there is a much better player in there if he was coached right.

An investment similar to Pugh who we loaned from Bournemouth would make a huge difference to this team...

Agree with all of the above. Some of our fans need a reality check. The club have no cash coming in except loans or hand outs from the FL, which I doubt will pay the every day bills, plus the payments still to come in from previous transfer deals.
I wouldn't like to be signing my name on the cheques no matter how much money I had during times like these.
On top of that there is the pressure of signing more players, and we read on here that 'so@so' is a cheap deal. Nothing is cheap. Even a straight forward medical costs. Players want housing, etc etc,....
These are difficult times and fans will cancel their membership's, also fans are unwilling even to part with a tenner to buy the stream back service. Then the same fans expect the club to be shelling out to bring more players in. Some talk as though ' a couple of million for so @ so' is found down the back of the sofa. It isn't.
Clubs at our level are skint and peoples jobs are not safe because there is not enough money coming in because of the current pandemic and there is no end to it.
If we manage to get any player in it will be the result of a lot of wheeling and dealing, a lot of decision making.
We are only weeks away from a full year without any income from gate money and all that goes with it. A full year on top of a relegation and all the reduced income that brings.

Covid has clearly had a huge impact on football finances, not to mention life in general, that said Ehab and Terry have lost City more money than the pandemic. Was it c8k memberships pre-covid, down from c14-15k a couple of years earlier, not to mention the higher gate income anyway due to additional fans paying for one off games. Without covid we've gone from c21-22k to c9k fans attending home games. Ehab was always going on about gate income representing only 7% of the clubs revenue whilst in The Prem, whilst now in League 1 it's a much higher proportion of revenue, covid or no covid!

The impact of Terry, aided by Ehab, getting us relegated is huge, getting back to The Championship would normally generate c£5-6m incremental revenue, and should that happen Terry will have gone some way to righting his cocks ups of last season. To do that I feel we need a proven goal poacher, the number of goal scoring opportunities we are passing up this season is criminal in footballing terms

Some of your post may touch on the relationship between Owner,Coach and fans but you've totally failed to factor in that some fans don't find League 1 football worthy of support. We've always had fickle fans as have most Clubs? It's easy and fashionable to blame Allam and McCann for falling fan base because no-one is actually man enough to admit that they won't support at this level ....I've said it before and I'll say it again,if we were back in the Premier League, bums would be back on seats.Yes,there'd still be complaints about the owners(some justified, some not) but they'd be back in their droves.
