I'm not knocking the finish but he's not gonna get many chances like this in Division One.

Eaves got 2 and McGeady got 1 exactly like that the other day. The peel off, movement and positioning to find the space created the finish, but took a lot still to execute.

Same with the 3 best chances in the Sunderland game.

Too often people focus on the finish and not the creative thinking behind the chance. Yeah, we need a quality finisher and KLP has it in his locker, Adelukan had on occasion but there's a reason all of 'em are playing at this level, cos if they were consistent they wouldn't be league 1.

We need a natural finisher though and this lad looks like he has it if not the consistency. Maybe you should sell your house and give money to the club to pay a week's wages for the kind of player you expect us to sign?

He's alright Jordan Flores. I don't think he's ever set the world alight at any club he's been at, but at League One level he's decent cover for Honeyman. From what I've seen of him, he's capable of doing very well (he looked very good against Arsenal in the Europa League), but he's one of those that looks to shape to shoot, and then hits a 1mph shot that dribbles into the keeper's hands.

It's a solid, if unspectacular signing that provides competition in a position where there isn't any. Still need a wide man and a striker for me.

Don't disagree, seen a few moaning over about it but it's what we need. Even read a few on the Facebook forum saying we don't need another midfielder which made me chuckle. Solid and cheap.

Alan Nixon reckons Wigan don't have enough money at present to see out the season, even with all the money from the PL payments. They're frantically getting cheap loans in just to fill gaps in the squad, players like Will Keane aren't renewing contracts and they're struggling to get big earners off the books. It's gonna get worse for them before it gets better I'm afraid. Take no pleasure in saying that cos they were royally screwed by the last takeover.

There really does need to be a more sustainable balance struck between player/agent power and realistic club finances.

All these ex player pundits blaming clubs for offering players too much and absolving players for being whores to a wage are equally culpable for the situation.

How many kissed the Wigan badge when the going was good to then run down contracts, **** off or down tools on massive money when the going got tough?

There's 2 sides to the see-saw and as long as ex-players are pundits and influence the media there's never going to be the balanced level of scrutiny the situation requires.

I don't think he's good enough to break into the West Ham team; he's already 22 and he's got Bowen, Yarmalenko, Fornals, Benrahma, Lanzini and Antonio in front of him. We could probably pick him up permanently in the Summer if we really wanted to. There are better options out there I think.

2 things need to happen to pick up quality young signings on a permanent deal - or even retain our own lads with prospects in the longer term....

1) promotion

2) investment.

If you're a league 1 club with 20 mil guaranteed income above the newly salary capped, covid stifled competition you'd think that " IF" Enob wans to be a football entrepreneur and a successful owner then invest now!! It might be the best opportunity he'll ever have to take a punt on the relative budget he currently has.

There's a wider issue here though. If you look at the support this City of Hull gave our club in a lower league and with poorer, older players than we have.now in the late BP/KC era and contrast that the whinging, ungrateful, self entitled ****s who literally slag everything the club does cos we're not ****ing Liverpool right now, then no wonder a young player might think a club like Oxford might be a better nurturing environment for his future career than we are currently.

Not just the owners. Salary cap plays its part.

The 'ambition' is now in the young players but they're going to have to be supported, developed and nurtured. The likes of Scott, Wilks, Greaves, Burke, Samuelsen, KLP all need time and development but there's our future.

We need players around them to bring them through.

Did the same in the Pearson/Taylor era. Even Phil Brown brought in Wayne Brown from a lower league to nurture and bring Turner through.

That's the game we're in. Only we currently have a better crop of youth as a platform to build on for the future than I can ever remember.

FFS the lads not even kicked a ball for us and already he's not good enough to step up! Gotta love our "fans" sometimes! Loads of players come from lower leagues and step up comfortably. We aren't going to spend bucket loads of money, we don't have the room in the wages to bring in huge stars without going over the cap, the fans want the Allams to pay down the debt and **** off, but then complain that they don't spend millions signing players.

Let's at least let him play 20mins before we slat the lad, the owners and the head coach

Just out of interest, what makes you doubt he's good enough for the champ?...... He looked more then good enough against arsenal In The Europa League

If the owners weren't spending to cap and putting hands in pockets for fees I'd have a problem, but were shifting bug earners to make room for signings which indicates to me were investng what we can.

We're investing in potential so I don't see a current lack of ambition given the constraints of the situation.

The problem I have is the waste of millions on incompetent recruitment and the failed, arrogant business stategy in the recent past and the blame is at Eeoors door for that.

We're a league 1 club with one of the best league 1 squads and within the constraints of the cap, I don't see what more we could be doing to build from going forward.

We ain't gonna sign ****ing mesi on 250k a week when we only have 10 times his weekly wage to fund the whole club for a year now are we?

The ambition sis significant fees paid for players under 23 who will improve, develop and hopefully step up with the right seasoned pros around them.

My criticism would be we need more smallwoods. Now there's a league 1 player, probably won't step up but vital to the cohesion of the squad and the development of the youth.

I'm not having a go at him, he's 25 now, so far hasn't pulled up any trees at the clubs he has been at, which are either non-league or lower level. He has one good game and scores a good goal, and suddenly he's a world beater.

All I am saying is on evidence IMO he is probably a league 1 level player, the club say they want to get back to the championship, but from what I see we will struggle with the players we are taking on.

Spent a couple years coming back from massive injury though. Lad clearly has ability and you're judging him for being sensible and dropping a level to find fitness, confidence, a bit of consistency and step back up to the plate.

Ashbee was a league 2 player who'd never step up from my recollection.

I hope you are right, I would just like to see us have a small squad and better quality. I understand there is a salary cap, so for me, I would go for that rather than a load of free transfers, on players that are likely not to be good enough for the Championship. I'm all for using the U23's as a route into the first team, and to have a smaller first team pool with better quality, which one or two or academy players given a chance if injuries occur.

Last time we got promoted from this league (back to back remember) we didn't have the best first 11, but we had the strongest squad. 2 players could hold their own in every position and a defined way of playing.

You don't have to be ****ing Brazil to win this league, just consistent.

Let's think about the championship when we get there. Some will step up, some won't and we'll need to recruit for that league to re-establish ourselves in it over time....

When we get there. There's a core of youth with a season or two more experience and a bit of confidence that comes with a promotion and we'll have a starting point.

We won't be challenging for PL promotion the season we do get get back up though. We'll have to build.
