So you only think it is probable the league in Luxembourg is not as good as the one in Belgium? I would have said it definitely isn't myself.

But in a one game, knockout scenario anything could happen. Fleetwood drew 0-0 with Leicester in the FA Cup, it doesn't mean they're as good as Leicester. Of course the Belgian League is stronger pound for pound, it doesn't mean a team from Luxembourg couldn't get a result against a team from Belgium, it happens all the time in Europe.

Coming full circle, the likes of Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen are good sides and I'd take a fair few of their players at City.

You were the one who claimed us getting knocked out of the europa league by Lokeren almost four years ago means that the SPL is stronger than league one.

No I didn't, I used that as an example of how a smaller team can knock out a bigger one. Castro brought up Rangers getting knocked out by a team from Luxembourg, my point was that when playing in a knockout competition you can't really compare leagues as teams can beat each other on the day. The team from each country doesn't always represent the strength of the nation's league. If Celtic went on and won the Champion's League somehow, it wouldn't then make the Scottish Premier League the strongest league in Europe, nor would it make any of the other teams in the league any better.

The only chance Scotland's league has of progressing is a bigger money deal that is shared out fairly. At the moment, Celtic profit from the European money and have used it to monopolise the league. The other teams don't have the money and so develop younger players, which are then inevitably picked off by bigger clubs. Harry Cochrane at Hearts has been impressive, he's already been linked to Everton. If another club wins the league somehow, it might change things as it would mean Celtic wouldn't be in the Champion's League (unless the seedings change) anymore, but the odds of that happening are against everybody else. Even the Scottish Championship has no hope, as the team relegated from the SPL has all the money and just bounces straight back up.

Lower level/league teams beat Prem teams in cup comps every season....doesn't mean they are the same quality, the Scottish Prem bar Celtic and a couple of players from some of the other teams is bottom champ standard. I was at the rangers Aberdeen game at the end of November and it was a poor poor standard.
I can't believe what im reading....im a big hull fan but i Live glasgow..i watch all level of scottish football and im telling you..after watching city(i do get to some away games) we would be lucky to compete with any team in the SPL. The fact we are linked with a killy winger and aberdeen youngster flatters us..believe me

Thank you. My wife is from Hamilton and I've been to a few of their games. They aren't doing that well but they play much more cohesively than we do atm. Giannis Skondras is a mental case, I'd have him at City.

Each to their own I guess, I've seen a lot of Scottish football over the years and stand by my comment.

What on earth is Tymon doing on tele for Stoke v Man U when he could have still been with the best run club in England? How much did we get? [HASHTAG]#askEhab[/HASHTAG]

I'll add an irrelevant anecdote to "this league's better than that league" argument.

An extended family member was top scorer in the Czech league a few years ago. Since then he has failed to impress at Sparta Prague, played for the champions of Luxembourg, been turned down after a trial with Ross County and played in the Maldives premier division.

Therefore: Czech > Scottish > Luxembourg > Maldives (although injuries MAY have played a part).

Wow that's quite a journey. When was this?

Quite a while ago then. Had a look on Soccerbase, is his last name Keric? Croatian?

Yep. He's back in the Czech Republic at the moment. He has a French Bulldog called Messi. I saw him at a funeral last week. My father in law spoke to him and says he may be going to play in Budapest. Might have to revise my league hierarchy.

There used to be a league 'league table' before, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
