Don't all these amateurs rushing about signing people realise that a well run club waits until the last couple of days before signing anyone, or don't sign anyone at all?
The fact that most Aberdeen fans on that forum reckon Hector is a better player than McKenna - then I'm inclined to think we should look elsewhere. As Hector is dog ****.
Yeah, because it has no bearing on how effective he will be. If players like Dawson are finding it tough, how is somebody not as good going to fare? Again, plenty of players in the lower leagues with Championship experience, it doesn't mean there's a massive queue to sign them up, nor does it mean they're what we need.
Well we shall have to agree to disagree. We lost to Lokeren in Europe, they're not even a big team in Belgium and that was with players of supposed Premier League quality.
We should have a look at Murray Wallace at Scunny. He'd be a better buy than McKenna. Top end League 1 player is still probably better than SPL standard.
Lower level/league teams beat Prem teams in cup comps every season....doesn't mean they are the same quality, the Scottish Prem bar Celtic and a couple of players from some of the other teams is bottom champ standard. I was at the rangers Aberdeen game at the end of November and it was a poor poor standard.
We'e they as good as Progres Niederkorn, the 4th best team in Luxembourg who knocked Rangers out of the Europa Cup this season?
I don't know, probably not. The different stages of Europe are difficult to gauge though, they pit teams against one another that wouldn't normally meet. Celtic beat Barcelona a few seasons back too. If they had the money we got they'd probably be stronger. In any case, I still think at least half the teams in the SPL would fare well in the Championship. The bottom half is a gamble, there are good players and teams in there though.
Wheres that youth that was class against us for Trencin little winger? Shows how good our scouting system is when he was staring us in the face!
Last season. I fail to see what this has to do with the strength of the Scottish Premiership? They beat Anderlecht in the Champion's League and finished third in a group that also contained two of the best teams in Europe? You're suggesting that these teams in the Scottish Premiership aren't at the level City are at, but what criteria are you using to judge them? Player quality compared to ours?
Moses Simon? He plays for Gent in Belgium, the team that got him when we were interested. He's done well there and he's still only 22.
So you only think it is probable the league in Luxembourg is not as good as the one in Belgium? I would have said it definitely isn't myself.
