James McClean

McLean can choose not to wear a poppy if that's his beliefs.

BUT.... I'm pretty sure that during the minutes silence, he wasn't shouting and jeering as those who did wish to pay their Club's respects stood silent.

Jip - I don't think that the millions of [especially - innocent] victims in wars would describe the conflict( their deaths ) as quote " interesting."

Mankind should not remember, for just ONE day, that war is basically futile - (but only serves to engage conflict when necessary ). Until mankind can learn to have respect and dignity for ALL, there will never be peace in the World - and sadly, many more innocent people ( on both sides of conflict ) will suffer - it is the memory of these people who we are being asked to remember - for one bloody minute - in one bloody day of the year.
I don't particularly like what McClean did - but at least he was being honest - and didn't do anything at the game to stop others from paying their respects or to tell his team mates that they were ****s for wearing a poppy on their shirt.

I went to my local Cenotaph and generally acted like a ****er by booing and shouting abuse to the folk who were standing still in remembrance.

I was wearing my wife's Celtic top so the people who were there knew that I was only doing it because the poppy has been hijacked by jingoists and British Nationalists so there was no confusion or thoughts that I was just a brain dead spastic.

Well done, you went to the correct location for the commemorations. Imagine if you'd gone to a football match <rofl>

You'll get no argument from anyone on here.

The fans made a donation but not the club. Cannae even afford a wee donation <rofl>

Meanwhile, Celtic donated 10 grand to the cause.

So, there is no point scoring to be had...

Celtic's charity arm gave 10K to Poppy Scotland

Rangers charity arm gave ?k to Poppy Scotland

As you would expect form charities.

One Twitter user said to McClean: "You will be leaving Great Britain by force. Say your goodbyes, because you won't be missed and we can all claim the Queen's money."

Wily McClean spotted a quote on the user's profile which read: "You have enemies? Good. That means you have stood up for something sometime in your life."

This prompted McClean to say: "How ironic is your profile pic? This is the stupidity you have to deal with."

I appreciate that the route the money takes is important to you:

avoid tax via EBTs = a title-stripping offence;
avoid tax via investment in dodgy film companies = nothing to see here guv'nor
