So did the officers

So they shot them

Unsure if cowards are remembered by poppies

Big difference between an cowardly IRA scumbag who deliberately sets out to maim and kill in their typically cowardly fashion...

...and some poor conscripted bastard forced to go into battle and told to go running at German defences. I'd like to see how any of us would cope with that.

Killing your own because they won't take part in your monopoly of violence is just as cowardly as planting bombs and drone strikes

What this thread needs is Ciran just to Irish it right up... Ciarian loves a dead brit or 10 so he does. Kirean is totally IRA n that.

aye, so it did

where's the proof?

There is photographic evidence that the German and British troops had a ceasefire on Xmas day. They met in no man's land and exchanged gifts and drinks, it's hardly a stretch of the imagination to suggest that someone may have started a kick about in such circumstances.

Starting on Christmas Eve, many German and British troops sang Christmas carols to each other across the lines, and at certain points the Allied soldiers even heard brass bands joining the Germans in their joyous singing.
At the first light of dawn on Christmas Day, some German soldiers emerged from their trenches and approached the Allied lines across no-man’s-land, calling out “Merry Christmas” in their enemies’ native tongues. At first, the Allied soldiers feared it was a trick, but seeing the Germans unarmed they climbed out of their trenches and shook hands with the enemy soldiers. The men exchanged presents of cigarettes and plum puddings and sang carols and songs. There was even a documented case of soldiers from opposing sides playing a good-natured game of soccer.

ww1 was just a bit of football hooliganism that got out of hand

Must have been confusing when someone broke into the box ... "Shoooot"

It seems to have been forgotten that it is seventy-five years since the start of WW2. Of the two WWs, number two was by far the most interesting. It was almost like a movie script, with clearly-defined goodies and baddies (except the Russians, who were almoat anti-heroes).

Of course, many of Hollywood's leading film studios have been Jewish-run, which is more evidence to suggest that WW2 was indeed a Zionist plot.
