According to the Mercury, it is the 'legal parts of the compensation package' that have to be finalised. To be honest, as annoying as it is, I can understand Hull playing hardball with him because he did have a while left on his contract and they have a right to get as much as they can from a manger who they showed good faith in. But I doubt it is the £2 million being reported as the media like to hype up our fees just to fit in with our big spending image. Happened a lot during the summer. Who do the Hull fans reckon for the new manager then??
You make it sound like we're a shop, as if our assets are freely available for purchase. If a friend of yours showed up at your place tonight and said how much do you want for your house, and you named a ridiculous price because you didn't want to sell, would you just do business with him below the going rate because you did a fair deal with him before? You're a dreamer, I respect that.
Wouldn't it just be easier if Nigel quit Hull, then they wont get anything, or is that too simple thinking?
I don't do business with friends..there lays heartache... But if your in a chain you don't mess about until the whole lot collapses either... a good reputation in business is important for the future...
Are Leicester supporters thick or what? Pearson has 20 months left on his contract.......so theres 20 months in a year ? MUPPET!
Do you lot know the Midlands based sports journalist John Percy? If so, does he know his arse from his elbow? He's just tweeted that the move is in doubt over the level of the compensation package being demanded.
I believe that's Sloth from the Goonies. It's an easy mistake to make. please log in to view this image
Although I actually have no idea, I imagine that there must a non-competition clause in his contract meaning if he resigns he won't be able to manage anyone else we're in direct competition with for a certain period of time. The compensation package, amongst other things, will mean this clause ceases to have effect. Pure speculation though, but as you say, I don't know why he wouldn't just resign otherwise.
There are some elements of truth here but it depends how you define a good reputation in a footballing business sense. If you think letting your prized assets go for much less than their true worth (as in our previous regime's handling of the Michael Turner transfer) would give you a good business reputation in the cut-throat footballing industry, I'd respectfully disagree.
If he quits, he goes on gardening leave and can't work anywhere else for three months. Hull could allow him to take up another job earlier, but they'll obviously only do so if compensation is paid. Which basically puts things exactly where they are already.
I'm almost certain that part of the settlement deal being negotiated, involves Pearson not being able to come in for any of our players for a fixed term. It's usually a year and it's very common, we've had to do it with previous managers we brought in.
Thats why these things take so long, agreeing not to go after your squad in the future, what each "so called" asset is worth, contract details... loyalty bonuses.. etc..
on what? I suspect the figure released to the wider world and the true figure will be poles apart..get two or more lawers in a room, its a blackhole for time and money..
