We got Poz for a third of what we payed for Michu ... and Michu really didnt cost anything . Michu , Chico and Poz was a brilliant piece of work by the manager , at less than 4 million and tons of gruelling and fluent work .We were something first half , without Bony . A careful first half , bringing Bony along slow , really came to be, for the team, in the 2nd half of the season .
 
I'd argue that Bony only benefitted when Michu got injured as it forced ML to change the tactics to accommodate Bony.

Michu was injured long before Bony got his act together.
The WC may have changed things but top managers will see Wilfried took half a season to gel and looked a bit lost for IC when Drogba was playing; slow starter maybe or doesn't have the mental presence to take control quickly (sort of happens with Michu).
Hopefully, others wil take that view and the big bucks won't be offered for another year.

Well,since they are all under contract,compensation will have to be paid,were that to be effected,a la the Michael Laudrup "kicking out".

Good Manager's,and I'm not only referring to the football variety,don't sideline/ignore members of staff the way Monk has with the likes of Pozuelo. He was a regular performer under Laudrup,but has been curiously put to one side by Monk. It all smacks of a personality clash to me.

That isn't true at all.

Players being moved on don't get compensation. And sidelining players happens regularly and even at the very top level, Real Madrid sidelined Beckham just because he didn't extend his contract.

Mikra earlier in this thread stated something about negative image of the club? The only negative opinions held about our club are by a section of fans of this club, the media and other fans still hold Swansea City FC in high esteem. Links to disprove that from real reliable sources and I will retract.
 
There is an at least equal section that would rather have a heap under the carpet than face truth and consequences .

Being "moved on" is not the same as being "kicked out".

One would imply a possible transfer fee was being paid,whilst the other would infer having to pay a contract up, i.e. compensation,a la Laudrup.

I'm not quite sure what's untrue about that.

So,making "negative comments" is to be frowned on then?
Criticism,where,justified, is to be outlawed?
Swansea City F.C. are above criticism?
Expressing concerns does not automatically mean a lack of "esteem",or respect.
It's what we humans do,regularly,and football Club's aren't immune to that.

To be honest with you I would like to see Poz kept. Get GM to earn his money and get him back on the straight and narrow. We go on about giving Donelly a try and he is onl young. The Poz is younger than him and has all the talent to be a top midfield player. it needs a good manager to get him back on the straight and narrow and bring his undoubted talents to the for.

Perhaps it's more a case of Monk growing up,realising people are different,and learn how to manage,i.e.do what he's now employed to do.
 
Vetch I dont disagree, I think Poz is a diamond in the rough and it needs the rght manager to nuture him. When that person comes along at whatever club it maybe I think he will turn into a top player. Whether GM is up to the task I am not so sure. I think he finds it easier to ship players out rather than work with them.
 
Before Monk can "work" on players, he needs to work on himself. How long is the grace period to get his license before he is prohibted from working for a Prem club .... btw, what is the rule on that, to what degree would he be prevented from working if Monk failed to get his license by the end of the grace period. For example, would he have to step down as manager or just not be field side, etc.
 
you have all been guilty of rubbishing poz just like you rubbished ash and chico and others <ok> it don't wear that you now say he is the best thing since sliced bread because your pissed off that we got rid of useless and installed a player that would know more about football management and the swans than anything he would ever know in a life time....I realize that. but get real..Monk calls the shots ...end of.....

As for Canas, well he's pants. His positional sense is shocking. His passing accuracy is terrible. He flies into tackles and gives away way too many free kicks. Goodbye Canas.

I'm sure Canas was one of our most accurate passers last season? Wasn't he in the top 10 accurate passers of the whole league?
 
Think he was swan .

Canas ,pablo ,michu and poz have all proved superb value for money and have proved it in europe and in the prem league. Some of our best wins and most memorable results were with These very players, im staggered that some of them Are deemed not good enough to make the bench ahead of fulton and i Think its a shame they Arnt being treated with respect.

Its obvious that the whole respect thing is a two way street and i Think this is where the main problem was.

Monk,ash and perhaps one or two more had very little respect for laudrup as a coach . The spanish lads loved him,along with routs who was glowing about how laudrup could show him things with the ball and not just talk about things from a book.

Monk became coach and the spanish lads had little respect for him as a manager and perhaps person too. Monk freezes some of them out as a result .

Chico had a fight with monk over something, nobody knows what over but i suspect they came to blows about monk throwing his weight around in the dressing room and perhaps trying to put things right the way he thought .

The fallout of all this is massive IMO . First day back pablo wants out, fair enough but i personally Think it was a bit childish to then leave him out of the USA tour, as he might not be sold until after the prem league starts and the window shuts! Of course pablo may not have wanted to go, but judging by his attitude when monk took over he strokes me as nothing but professional.


Its all a bit mad really, everybody could have done better here, laudrup,the players,the board , everyone. There has been a failiure to manage this situation from the top,things could have been worked out.

I was told that laudrup offered to go at the start of the season if his contract was paid up in full, the board bottled it, they had a chance but didnt take it, so they then should have stopped the back biting and backed him 100% that included telling the senior players to button it too.

They did neither,

Your wrong Norway, Michu was the only one who turned out to be of any value to us, and that just for one season. Pablo did play well, when he was fit, and I am disappointing that he wants out. It's been reported he wants to play in Spain so he can be near his daughter, so, fair play to him and I wish him good luck in the future.

I can't see how anyone who watched the games he played for us thought that Canas was any good. All I saw was him giving the ball away and running out of position. I only saw half the home games at the Liberty due to work so maybe I missed something. I did watch most of the games I didn't get to on wizi, or first row, and saw nothing from Canas to change my mind. IMHO, he is not of championship quality so the sooner he goes the better.

Pozuelo, just what did he do of any positive note when he was here? did he ever take the game by the scruff for us? no, did he ever change the course of a game to our favor? no, did he ever score the winning goal for us? no, did he, could he play for 90minutes? no, 20minutes ? for me no. He danced and looked like he could be good but in reality he was only ever a boy on a mans pitch. Potential, plenty, actual, none.

so Michu was the only Spaniard who will be missed.

As for your he said she said quote Norway re Laudrup offering to leave <laugh>. Is that a fact, no, hearsay, yes.

Tell us how you think our board should run a model business, a model club, the only profitable club in the Prem, go on Norway, make me laugh more.

As other posters will testify i have said in the last few days that the board doing what they are doing is the only saving grace in all of this, in the fact that they do their best for the club no matter what . so not quite sure what your talking about TBH.

You dont rate Pablo i do .

As for giving proof that Laudrup offered to go if paid up, i dont give a toss if you believe it or want proof, who cares what you want?

Anyway, what kind of proof would you like ? documented and printed out with a picture of the bloke who told me ?...<laugh>

If i did that then you'd say the picture was fake, the documents were forged etc,etc bla,bla ,bla



I dont make things up for the sake of it, if thats what i was told in good faith from an honourable gentleman then thats good enough for me, if you think sitting the likes of Poz and Canas in the stands while we pay them a fortune and play fulton instead of them is a better option then great, ive seen enough of Poz and Canas to know they are decent players, if you disagree fine.

But to say im wrong, regarding those players well, that just sounds a bit daft, its my opinion . agree ,disagree i really dont give a chuff fella <ok>
