I didn't allude to that, I stated there is no negative image of the club beyond the views held by some of our own fans.

I disagree with you there,Project.

For instance, the way Laudrup was treated by The Club was viewed on a worldwide stage, and shocked and appalled many, leaving a stain that will be impossible to remove.
If that didn't produce negative images,I don't know what would.
Laudrup has a much higher profile than Swansea City and Jenkins forgot that, and had to pay the price.

Not to mention 606 forums generally, where not everyone loves The Swans'.

Who are these Swansea fans' who have a negative image of the Club?

Surely,a follower is entitled to air an opinion on actions taken by the Club, without being accused of having a negative image?

Disagree there. It's not as if a big club came in for him is it? Where have we paid the price too? It still seems that a lot of good players want to join us/getting linked.
As for the not606 boards, not many wanted Laudrup as their manager and there have been plenty of managerial changes since he was sacked.

Well, the Club had to pay Laudrup compensation. If that wasn't paying the price,I don't know what is.

So you disagree that Laudrup has a larger world wide profile than The Swans'?

Not sure where I suggested that many wanted Laudrup as their manager,my point was that not everyone out there loves The Swans'.

Laudrup's choice of next team to manage may have been influenced by the protracted dealings re compensation, tax liabilities, family considerations,etc..Only he knows, and speculation is pointless.

However, he has now found a haven for himself, where he can further display his prodigious footballing talent..

Whilst we have Garry Monk, and his prodigious watch collection. <laugh>

Valley this is what is worrying me, who are these players. Yes we have signed Gomis, Because we were the highest payers, We signed Fab after his release from Arsenal and Emnes from a championship side. We have lost out on Besic to Everton and I read somewhere Moterro turned us down along with Payet from Marseille. At the moment I dont see much else being linked to us. I have no doubt some will come up with names I have missed.

My big concern is that are we able to attract players of the calibre to replace what we may/will loose. I cant help it but I do worry GM just doesnt have the standing in world football to attract them. I dont want this comment to turn into a GM V ML scenario, because it is all about Swansea city. I know there is a long way to go till the window closes, but didnt GM say he wanted his buisness done early. Well perhaps he is struggling to attract the players he wanted. I was happy when GM stepped in last year but never wanted him as our full time manager. I just hope we have a squad that is capable of competing come the start of the season and that GM is able to attract quality players just not PL wannabes.

After he arrogantly turned down 'smaller' teams, he went to the mighty minnows in the Middle East. That for me does a lot of damage to his reputation too.
Give me an oil sheik and a club to manage with hundreds of millions at my disposal and I'd win the bloody league out there.

Agree, although I think we can still attract quality players we are still to slow in getting these players signed on the dotted line and that is pissing me off. That is why I said all along that we should have appointed Hoddle as a director of football so that he could oversea all the off pitch football related activities. He would also have the 'name' to attract the quality needed.

Sorry,Valley, but now you sound like the nutter from Penclawdd. Laudrup is not arrogant. He has no need to be. Who did he turn down?

True, maybe nobody wanted him <whistle>

But let's be honest, given the club and the 'quality' of their league, if Laudrup doesn't win the title there he should walk away from management.
As for not being arrogant, he says he only wants to manage a big club then signs for a club nobody has ever heard of. What would you call that?

Where have we paid the price ?

A couple of million to Laudrup,500k to monk

Michu leaving,Pablo leaving, canas sitting in the stands getting paid a fortune,Pozuelo sitting in the stands getting paid a fortune, Bony perhaps looking at everything that went on and deciding time to jump ship .

The price could be a pretty high one in fact .

Agree, we could have been relegated, which given our form, wouldn't have been a surprise especially with the new tv rights on the line. Paying ML off is a drop in the ocean compared to what could have happened had we gone down. The board had to take a calculated gamble, and it paid off, in the short term at least.

Valley,as you know,I have a great deal of time for you,and usually have little by way of dispute with your posts.

But,do me a favour, and yourself, and send back those blinkers that the nutter from Penclawdd has given you.

Firstly, what does it matter to you,or anybody else, who Laudrup is now managing?

I understand he has signed a one year contract,so perhaps he is simply taking a year out of the limelight,on good pay,in a hot climate, and where people will respect him and not regard him as being,

a)"arrogant"(your description);

b)"a loser",(that astounding gem was posted by DragonPhil recently), and,

c) being constantly insulted and libelled by the likes of the nutter from Penclawdd.

He could have joined Morriston Town,if that was his choice.

Did you personally hear Laudrup disparage Swansea City F.C. by saying that he now only wants to manage a big Club? I know the answer to that.

More likely you read it as a quote taken completely out of context,as most journalists do.

Or perhaps the nutter from Penclawdd posted it here.

There is nothing arrogant about Laudrup. He is as honest as the day is long, and no,I haven't met him,but I have heard many people who know him,say as much.

His after match interviews were always a joy,and gave a clear indication that he is a very humble person.

"What would I call that?" Well,I would call that his right to choose where he wishes to ply his trade. Nothing more, nothing less.

In fairness Valley he actually said that was pledging to wait for an offer from a bigger club - or take a job outside Europe.

"I've had conversations with clubs in England and Spain – and now I will try very carefully not to sound or seem arrogant, because I'm not – but they are clubs at a level where I have been," the former Swansea boss told a Danish newspaper.
I've tried the smaller clubs in the two major leagues, Getafe and Mallorca in Spain and Swansea in the Premier League, so I see no reason to repeat it.

"That leaves me with two options - to wait for an offer from a bigger club or say yes to any of the offers that have come from clubs outside Europe."

When people are losing an argument they often mention Hitler. With a certain section of Swans fans, it's Laudrup. Most people have already forgotten in managed Swansea. They've moved on.

I have a great idea - why don't we have the Laudrup debate all over again.
