Off Topic International Break Thread

You can look at Spurs' season so far in a number of ways, but one is that we've seen fabulous work from our defenders and deep lying midfielders, and a failure from our attacking players to do their part.

Of all of our attacking players behind Kane, only Dele breaks into the penalty area like he is determined to score, absolutely hell-bent on getting ahead of the defender to get an effort on goal.

It's just that I remember a time when both teams could play a really decent standard of football. This is just awful. England's defence is atrocious. Scotland's poor attack is the only reason that we've not conceded.

You are not wrong Brian, times past Scotland were a real force, not in recent times sadly.

Good stuff <ok>

I like the partnership Henderson and Dier are forming in the middle and I thought Rooney looked better for being dropped, it was a team performance from him for once, rather than the selfish stuff we've seen from him before as he struggled to warrant his place in the side. I still think Lallana and Alli are our best choices at number 10 though.

Fairly pleased with what Southgate's done so far. Really hope the FA don't jump the gun and hire him though, better to wait, there's no rush.

Sturridge may have scored but he is way too selfish, and will continue to waste opportunities where others are better placed. All strikers do that to a certain extent but he is way off the scale. Not being first choice at his club is telling.

Sterling is just one of the worst international footballers I've seen. There have been many England players over the years picked either on reputation or club form or some weird perceived idea they are better than they are. And despite countless opportunities they continue to fail internationally, yet they get picked again because "they should be good". Once or twice they may do something good, and people then say "told you they were good", but how many opportunities do they get to waste before that happens? But he'll continue to get picked cos he plays for Man City. Or some such reason.

I can think of a few worse to be honest, but he was again dreadful tonight and how he wasn't subbed is a mystery. Even stranger is that Jenas has just said he was one of the highlights!!! <doh>

I didn't know ITV were showing League One football on a Friday night.

Who's on next week? Wimbledon v Southend? Should be a better standard than tonight's showing.

I agree completely. That was bloody awful. Scotland were wretched. England weren't much better.

Still, on Friday 2 December the BBC are showing Macclesfield v Oxford. Sounds pretty good to me after that bag of ****.

Christian Eriksen scored twice yesterday, as Denmark beat Kazakhstan 4-1.
He put them 2-1 up from the spot, then finished off the scoring with this nice piece of work:

Our old mate James McClean scored the only goal, as Ireland beat their hosts Austria 1-0:

Not shown is Kevin Wimmer's rather ****ty attempt to win a free-kick down the other end.
Dropped to his knees from very little contact, Ireland played on and Hoolahan put that fantastic ball in.

Nabil Bentaleb's continued his scoring run with a very nice finish, having been set up by Mahrez:

Puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-pah! is French for "what a delightful goal", apparently.
