Having posted a thread previously asking whether Martin O'Neill was 'past his best', I thought it decent to post a thread passing on my congratulations on the appointment of Martin O'Neill.
I had some doubts about him but the early signs are quite remarkable.

Another good win against an in-form Peterborough United side has impressed me further.

Martin O'Neill looks to be exactly the right man at the right time.

The derby becomes utterly enthralling.

Why is this on the Newcastle board? Do you think the unwashed would be a*se-licking AP?

Get a grip man.

It was a decent post, not arse-licking. Not everyone thinks the "other side" are all ****ehawks. The ones who don't are easily recognised - they're the grown-ups.

Sunderland are simply starting to do what they should have been doing anyway.

I agree with this to be honest...

Under Bruce you were playing Sess up front on his own and booting it long for him, despite having one of the best crossers in the Premier League in Larrson.

O'Neill's teams are famed for being well organised at the back, soaking up pressure, then hitting teams on the counter attack and that's what you did today and have been doing in all of his games since taking over.

Although he will build his own squad, he inherited one that was a fairly snug fit for his usual style!

Oh and Syd, I think you do him a little disservice in writing off his days at Celtic, 2 horse race or not, he still won the Uefa Cup with them!

mr tiote does have a valid point in all fairness

Mr Tit is talking his usual ****e, a defeat to Chelsea does not mean any bubble has burst. We may get beat, but we'll pick ourselves up and start again.

Even the most ardent, bigotted barcode would have to admit, the bloke has done pretty well since coming in?????

Mackemwelder. Jeez you must be old. Haven't built ships on the Wear for 30 years!

Done well so far, but managers in the past have made great starts at clubs then struggled. Though he has been impressive and has already made sure Sunderland will be in the league next year which I think Sunderland fans would have taken after their 2-1 loss at Wolves a few weeks ago.
Too right, prem survival was the only thing on my mind when he took over, next season in the time to get excited

Never thought I'd say this, but I really doubt Sunderland will lose to Chelsea. They aren't the team they used to be and Sunderland will probably catch them at a good time

watched the scumderlands game today and to be honest if they've improved since o'neill has came then they must have been sh**e . imo saw nowt to impress me or convince me they are on the up. bubble burst bubble intact i dont care still looked crap

Got to agree,,,thought we were ****ing crap today, BUT we are doing something right.
I think we are able to stop teams doing what they are good at....(and score at least 1 more goal than them)....everyone was ****ing over how good Peterborough are, how good Man C, are, how good both teams are at scoring goals, how much football they play.......well they couldn't "play" against us, they couldn't score agains't us. We are good at stopping the opposition from beating us. It's not pretty I admit, but it works. We beat a team playing ****e, we didn't get out of first gear. That's a good thing, is it not....
