Your not a miserable old bastard dennis, you're a traditionalist who appreciates the value of involvement & support of your team. I feel very much the way you do...and my bus ride to watch City live is far more expensive. I miss that live on-the-spot experience a **** load - despite the most recent experiences being at the KC of it being like a library on a mid-week afternoon. The over-saturation/exposure of televised football is diluting the experience drastically. Lots of money being made by a few (players particularly, some owners). It's even killing the game at grass root level. How many kids do you see playing football on local parks on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon these days ? They'd rather sit on their arses in front of the bloody TV ! Weekends at my place now consists of 3 or 4 mates dropping round to watch PL games on the 3 screens I have set up in my basement. Every bloody PL game is broadcast on multiple TV channels. Some may be delayed a couple of hours, but they are all available to watch. We even listen to City's audio broadcast live at the same time (well, when Viking actually get their act together that is !!). It's a blessing that I can still get out to manage an old-timers football team mid-day on Sunday to get my fix of real football. I retired from playing about 5 years ago after my first leg fracture, coupled with arthritic hips and shattered ankle ligaments. After a few beers post match, it's back to the basement to catch up on the televised games we recorded whilst out in the fresh air. I think it's me who's the miserable old sod . The pleasure of watching football, as you say, is being devalued rapidly.
You don't sound miserable. A few beers, or a lot of beers, with mates whilst watching football and keeping up with City games sounds a decent way of spending time in foreign climes.
It’s just possible that we’re both miserable old sods EDIT- I see a few of the even older, even more miserable, sods have joined in too
Cheer up Chazz - the snooker final restarts in a couple of hours. Beer fridge well stocked at this end.
Nothing beats being at a live game, where you feel part of the club. Unfortunately that feeling has been taken away by the Allam's, until such time as they are gone, watching City at home will feel like a soleless experience. Atmosphere at away games is a much better experience than at home.
Some clown on the HDM site claims the atmosphere has disappeared due to CTID and HCST. Yes, I remember the vibrant atmosphere the pro Allam brigade and others created, it was a cauldron with all 4 sides cheering and chanting. The same bloke takes someone else to task for negativity and says with investment from the Allams we could well be celebrating promotion back to tne PL. If he sees men in white coats coming down the drive he would be well advised to pretend not to be in.
Does anyone know if an I follow account can be used across all the clubs using that platform as per the old EFL website accounts? I don't think I want to sign up for it and give the Allan's any of my money.
Maybe someone pointed out that we had the potential to be as internationally popular as Stevenage or Port Vale.
