Don't get your point about Man U, Boxing Day and an early kick off. We sold all our tickets and Man Utd did. The fact that we sold more tickets for home fans for the Fulham game as they didn't sell all theirs and we sold all the extra seats the SAG and police would allow suggests that we would have had no trouble selling more for the big clubs, especially if we are doing well. There is a balancing act. Too many seats and it looks bad if we went down, and thhe rugby lot don 't want any more seats as they look lost now and it would be almost comical if the stadium was a lot bigger. About 32,000 which cvould be done fairly easily would be about right, 35,000 tops.
Which is rather sad as given the size of the city and the catchment area we should do far better.
Maybe but in Leeds they also had a rugby league club long before a football one and it was a rugby club which has been more successful our two combined, they also had 2 clubs like Hull, Leeds RL and Hunslet once getting a crowd of 54,000 at Elland Road compared to a derby record of 28,000 in Hull at BP. Yet Leeds United have always got larger crowds even when they were poor for decades pre Revie.
Castro you are right it's a balancing act. It would be much better if the KC had been better designed so that away fans could be somewhere like the West Stand lower north corner and the North stand was all Home.

You're right but why? There's really no good reason we can't have a decent sized support.
Maybe but yeah but the attitude among the club and most fans is a ****ty defeatist one. No one seems to want to try. Where's the adverts for City? How do non-fans even know when we're playing? I only know when City's games are because I check myself. The club hardly ever reaches me with its marketing and I'm one of the easiest to reach as I'm an existing fan. How are the uninitiated supposed to get into watching City? We can't just rely on dads bringing sons.
I am saying that for some games under certain circumstances. Unfortunately this means having even more people in the ground who want to sit and watch the opposition stars rather than support City so even with larger crowds it is unlikely the atmosphere would improve.
I started going in 1963 and although we got big crowds for cup matches, even those against teams in the same division and below our crowds have never been much to shout about since the beginning of the 1966/7 season. I think since then we have had 3 maybe 4 games with a crowd of 25,000 and one of those had more Sunderland fans than City (there were only 23,000 against Man Utd at BP) prior to the move to the KC.
As I said we can attract more, loads all over East Yorkshire will go to see us play the big clubs and kids getting there dads to take them means 2 admissions. Unfortunately the extra ones will be spectators rather than supporters moaning about anyone standing as it spoils their view of the likes of Stevie G etc...
This has been a problem for years with City. I don't know if its different for other clubs but City has never reached out and grabbed support. We have always been cast as underdogs.
Sometimes I wonder if it is a Hull thing. We seem to under sell ourselves, never expecting to be on top. The city of culture reaction nationally showed that Hull is not held in high regard by the media.
The clubs marketing policy, just doesn't seem to get the right messages across. It is poor.

Is there planning permission already in place for the KC and surrounds? Highly unlikely.

As for the marketing, I know this will sound odd but CTWD should tender for the work.
When I said Leeds have always got larger crowds that was with reference to in comparison with the rugby clubs despite them not doing well for the first half of their history. Not always the case here.
Difficult to compare city sizes due to the way the boundaries are but we have roughly the same amount of people as Leeds do as their nearest club.
In any case we compare very poorly with a lot of clubs as to the percentage of population attending games. A few years back Burnley were getting 30,000 crowds from a population of less than 90,000. Blackburn and Bolton were getting 50,000 crowds with populations roughly half the size of Hull.

Haven't seen you comment on the actual football for ages.
All those Lancashire towns were clever enough to build a tradition of football supporting by having plenty of years in the first division. That's where City slipped up. When football was still young we didn't make it to the big league. Probably the year the club failed on goal average to go up to the top division was a defining year. The whole history of the club might have been different if we'd got an extra point that season.
Instead a club like Grimsby were far bigger back then with a good few years at the top of football. We missed out.
