I was in the pub when this copper came in. This was for Euro 2012. An older bloke at the bar asked the Inspector if Brid was crime free, and if it wasn't why didn't he get on with some proper policing. The twat of an inspector turned round and said he would check if anyone was singing during games as more than 2 people singing was a performance and anybody listening was an audience so he would need a music licence. This is someone who reckoned he was understaffed and underresourced but used to send officers round to check if any under 16s were there after the witching hour of 9pm. Burnsy had a discussion this morning why families prefer to go abroad for their holidays. Wonder why?
To wind the coppers up the landlord had the covers to the cellars, which are at the front of the pub painted as Union Flags prior to the start of the London Olympics later that year. Once posted a photo on here of the faded painting when someohevdisputed what I had written. Can't be bothered posting it again as you are obviously another who doesn't believe anything which doesn't fit in with your views and preconceptions.

The police have no business getting involved in trendy causes: they are there to catch criminals, not virtue-signal.

Whilst we're on the subject how can it be that I encroach onto the grass in football ground and I get up to a £1000 fine and banning order, yet I can park my camper van on grass in Picky Park, defecate in adjacent bushes and leave bags of litter over several days, refuse to leave, threaten to do it on other grassed area nearby and the police don't want to know?

Similarly after the SAFC game at the Stadium of Pink Seats a few years back, all our buses and vans were escorted through 3 counties (roundabouts blocked off etc) till we were back in Humberside?

Isn't the law funny in this country?

The Police will have funded the flag
I doubt the £10 it will have cost will make much difference to their budget, and they don’t seem to be moaning about being under resourced anyway since they’re recruiting hundreds of extra coppers
I think the Police have every right in getting involved in showing support for the LGBT+ community since a more tolerant society would have a direct effect on reducing hate crimes which would reduce costs to them and therefore us, and also leave the Police more time to pretend to landlords of pubs that Castro frequents that they can’t wave flags or sing...and as long as it only happens when he’s there that is very funny

The vandalism of the flag, and the frankly pathetic letter, show exactly why a Pride parade is still needed

It was two different coppers. Must be marvellous to have coppers like those in Hull, so finely tuned as to the wants and needs of football fans who they regard as like-minded individuals.

Any progress on the Mansfield 200 and when the unnecessary fence is coming down?

Not sure what the relevance of that is?
They don’t treat football fans at all well, and they’ve been ****e about Mansfield, Millwall etc
I was simply saying that you were referring to decision to fly a flag which will have been made at senior level following discussion, so it doesn’t really relate to the behaviour of individual coppers. The flag won’t have been flown on a whim by one copper, whereas the flag flying thing was, which you can tell as he was so spectacularly wrong
 
the problem with the pride flag is the horrid blue and purple together just doesn't mix well

I heard the West Midlands (?) Police on telly the other night blaming their poor response times on 'the cuts' and saying they were hundreds of officers short. Assumed this was a national characteristic.

It's clearly risky backing one political cause if it offends others. Do all cultural groupings/ faith groups/ stakeholders endorse the rainbow flag? If not, it's unwise to fly it.

The police used to be a byword for bigotry/prejudice (and many no doubt still are privately) so it's ironic they are now re-branding themselves in this way.

Personally, an efficient well-run principled police force would do me.

When people who say Hull is better than everywhere else move on. And start living in the real world.
