The HDM was in a state of high dudgeon about "savage snobs" placing Hull 7th on a list of worst places to live, interviewing people who said they didn't know what a great city it was etc...If the HDM ever checked things they would have seen it was based on them asking people who lived in each city or town thought of where they lived. Someone should have a word with the good citizens of Hull who think less of their city than the residents of Luton, Middlesbrough and other places. Though Liverpool residents have a lower opinion of where they live than Hull's.
You haven't touched a nerve. Just interested in a link to his posts stating what you said he has.
Aren't you the one who is always saying that the people in Hull think the city is great when in fact it really isn't ?
Seems I have a higher opinion of Hull than some who live there. I don't say it is crap, I say some people have an over inflated opinion of it. Hull folk are an insular bunch.
Supposition. The ultimate proof.
Don't like Davison particularly but I do remember reading an article by Craig Charles. When he was accused of rape everyone dropped him like a hot potato, his appearances on shows were cancelled. The one exception was Davison who was then at the peak of his career. He said everyone is innocent until proved guilty and told the TV company if Charles didn't appear he wouldn't do the show. Support from the supposedly racist, politically incorrect Davison, none from the right on luvvies and liberals.

Can't say I personally like right-on luvvies and liberals (per se) but have you got a link to support that assertion?
Well, Charles said Davison was the only one who supported him it therefore follows if he was the only one who did then no right on luvvies and liberals did.
Like most places that I have visited throughout the UK, and that is quite a few, there are pluses and minuses about living in many towns and cities. And I have come to realise that many comments from people, are not actually linked to the area where they live but are more attuned towards their actually circumstances. If you are having a rough time of things then blame Hull, you are pissed off, blame Hull per se, especially if you happen to live in one of the less desirable areas. If you happen to win big, on the lottery for instance, would you suggest that it's because you live in Hull?
In this particular survey in city of culture year we were top. No hysteria about savage snobs then.
My post was to point out how hopeless the HDM, or the group they are part of, is.
In those 'surveys', it's like the 'writer' is some miserable friendless adolescent who blames his plight on the local environment and natives.The odd thing is the the review of each 'crap town' is almost identical....with copious references to 'chavs'.
To be taken with a pinch of salt, or better still ignored as the work of witless knaves.
Here are some of the places I have been to in the UK and thought I would not like to live:
- Croydon
-Rotherham
-Walsall
-Watford
-Hartlepool
-Milton Keynes
Places with no distinct identity, very little of note historically or culturally, in the shadow of somewhere else bigger nearby.
Not having a dig at these places just calling it as I see it.
To be taken with a pinch of salt, or better still ignored as the work of witless knaves.

That survey asked residents of the towns and cities their thoughts. I read some of it, Bristol residents were particularly scathing of their own city. Surprised at the low ranking of Liverpool, not because I rate the place but because every Scouser I have met thinks the place is wonderful.
Presumably you haven't been to Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley or Preston?

Been to all of them several times.
Some of them have a fierce civic pride and history-wise they were at the centre of where organised league football began.
Luton is not great but like so many places outside the M25, it has not fared well under successive governments.There are too many Lutons up and down the country, the real issue is there shouldn't be any as prosperity and investment should be uniform nationwide -not just concentrated in one small corner of the kingdom.
