I may well be wrong here, but when Hughton was appointed as manager, I really can't remember that many arguments against his appointment. If fans think that he has just the one way of setting up his teams, where were all these comments when he was appointed? Like i said, I may well be wrong. Just trying to think back, that's all
Baring a miracle we will be in the bottom 3 after 10 matches with the games we have coming up, i just think it has run its course and not worked out, he was lucky to hold on to his job last season with the run that saw 1 win in 19 games, not many managers would have kept their job through that. Go for Zola, he would jump at the chance to manage a PL team with a squad that is capable of a top half finish, and as seen time and time again in football he will make it happen if approached.
Correct! The vast majority named him before the appointment, myself included but I have to admit to being very disappointed barring the first 4 months last season.
I do not doubt that, I have been very much on the fence for a good while now. I am not ready to call for his head yet and prepared to give more time (looking at the next 3 games, we have to) but I do think his days are increasingly numbered if the home form drops this season. Because if it does, we are screwed.
I think you two are being harsh on supers, he is correct when he says you in transision........ You are transforming into a championship side quicker than little chrissy can praise an opposition.
Me too. I welcomed his appointment, but each week I become a little more convinced that I was wrong. If Zola is available, I'd take him in an instant. We might go down due to defensive naivety, but at least we wouldn't have to put up with **** on a stick every other week (and probably still go down).
Well he's not, so let's stick with what we have for now, shall we? It's just 5 games for Heaven's sake. When did we all become so impatient? I hate, and I mean HATE all this whinging with a vengeance. Guess I just grew up expecting less than most do nowadays. We're a reasonably small club, and we're doing great.
Yes, well I hate all this Polyanna, happy-clappy 'anyone who isn't a 100% behind the manager is a turncoat and a wuss'. Something is wrong - that is obvious. We are not 'doing great' - we are painful to watch away from home and it now seems the away form might be starting to affect the home form (notice I said 'might'). Today's performance wasn't dreadful in the way that a lot of the performances have been this year, but there was a still a lot to cause concern, including players who seem to no longer feel the need to follow a manager's instructions. And by the way, I am not young by any means.
Whoa, relax, Jesus! I never said you were a turncoat (or that you were young for that matter, God knows where that came from). I just don't get all this moaning. We have some great players and they will come good, I'm sure of it. Of course people will moan, it's human nature. It's just not mine.
Sorry if I over-reacted. Your sentence about you grew up expecting less is what made me think you were accusing the young 'uns of being spoiled and faint-hearted. My view is that there IS a problem. I accept that it is possible that this problem is nothing more than adapting to new players and a new style of playing, and that things will correct themselves given time. But it is also possible that there are fundamental limitations in CH's ability as a manager at this level, and all I am saying is that this is my preferred reading of the situation. If you're right, we should stay calm and wait for things to turn around. If I'm right, we need to take action sooner rather than later or the position will be irretrievable. And, whatever you say, I still want to see Snodgrass put firmly in his place so that he knows who is in charge. And it is not him.
Fair comment, and my post was not aimed at you personally, but at people who seem to be over-reacting, which may or may not include you. To be honest, either of us could be right. I'm still not entirely convinced by the manager, but I do think we have made some cracking signings, and I'm as optimistic as ever. Agree about Snodgrass, I have no idea what happened there, but he was out of order regarding the penalty.
There is a well respected poster on the pink un board that has given correct info before saying he has been sacked and it will be announced later! Take it as you will!
Well this poster has broke several stories before they have happened so he must have heard something. I personally cant see it but if its true i cant see to many people being surprised or disappointed.
I agree, there's absolutely no chance that there's a "well respected poster" on the pink un board, it just doesn't happen
