They've invented a storyline that's plausible moving on from the film and its well shot and acted. I watched three episodes yesterday to get up to speed.

I prefer to be literal on this, and separate "scary movie"
from horror. And for the latter, horrific scenes do not
necessarily have to be filled with buckets of viscera.
So Alien for me is horror (the Kane scene) and
Halloween is a scary movie.
Never got into horror films. I find it quite bizarre that a film can actually scare anyone above the age of 10.
Elm St is IMHO a good landmark horror film.
I wish some of the original Hellraiser could be redone
with current SFX tech (it would be really awesome) .
Texas chainsaw massacre is a real assault on the senses.
If I showed you my home made porno it would scare you. It scares children as well.
That's true that's why gore does not do it for me...all them idiots getting chased by saws and machetes deserve it...they walk into the traps. Michel Myers...that **** would be arrested within the hour...helicopters out, armed cops...job done.
Supernatural films...that **** plays with the mind...the dead, spirits...it dabbles with us all in real life or that possibility exists(at least for me)

I was ranking them on the quality of the movie rather than if its actually scary.
I dont think Nightmare on Elm Street is scary, but I still like parts 1 and 3, they were decent. (The rest are awful)
Michael Myers can't be killed, he is immortal.
He made a deal with the devil for increased strength and immortality, the downside being that in order to keep this gift he has to murder all his blood relatives. Which is why he is hunting down Jamie Lee Curtis, his sister, all throughout the first 2 movies, then her daughter, his niece, in the 4th and 5th movies. (3 is unrelated to the others and doesnt even have Michael Myers in it).
Unless you happen to be Bope...he probably watches them with subtitles on , volume off whilst listening to Steps on his Walkman..so that he doesn't get scared

Thats the problem with horror movies, like you already mentioned, most of the horror movie scenarios that people find themselves in, in these movies, would be completely impossible in real life, mainly due to common sense.
Like a teenage girl hears a noise outside, so goes outside, unarmed and alone to ask "Who's there?".
