My favourite genre of film and grew up being scared ****less at the hands of Terrence Fisher Hammer Horror director of classics such as Dracula and the Revenge of Frankenstein and many more.

Arguably the first slasher movie was Hitchcocks Psycho but now there's so many horror genres the choice is almost baffling. I tend to choose by director but have been surprised taking pot luck.

Also a great lover of low budget horror like Session 9 by Brad Anderson, Baskin by Can Evrenol and the Babadook by Jennifer Kent all worth a watch if horror is your bag.

What's your favourite Horror flick or favourite director?
 
I like a bit of Stephen King.
Carrie, Pet Sematary, The Shining, Misery.
They are all pretty good.
Not my favourite genre though I will admit.

Used to take the píss out of Hammer horror films when I was a kid. Whole load of us used to go and jeer and take the piss until we got chucked out.

Psycho scared the **** out of me though!..

I suppose Alien is technically Horror, so I'd rank that as the best Horror film of all time.
Quite like the original Halloween movie too.

Yep it's a Sci-fi horror flick, classy too. Have you seen the Cube directed by Vincenzo Natali?

Sounds familiar, now you mention it.
Pretty sure I haven't seen it though.

The slew of US Japanese horror movie remakes in the early to mid 2000's were okay.
The Ring and Grudge etc. Though I may have been busy oogling Naomi Watts and Sarah Michelle Gellar respectively.
 
I don't like Gore...it's ****.

I like a well made supernatural flick. When I was a kid I watched Amityville horror. Only film that genuinely ****ed with my head for a while. The Poltergeist movies were very good too. That old man in the 2nd one as he walks up the road singing a song with that eery undertone, the way he smiles, it's raining but sun is out..it's like sheeeet that was freeky.

Seen others and there are some good ones but them two stand out for me. I'm sure I'll say 'oh yeah' to some others that get mentioned too.

P.s apart from the ones Bope likes(probably), can imagine him.being into **** like Scarey Movie

The Conjuring 1&2 & Sixth Sense fall into that category too. All classy films worthy of a watch.

Aah yes...see I knew more would crop up...6th sense is right up there. That reminds me I enjoyed 'unbreakeable' with Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson.

My kind of supernatural which is far removed from gore like 'Saw'

Agreed, for me those ripper/slasher films have there place but I'm quite partial to a thought provoking supernatural thriller. The Exorcist TV series is also very good and closely follows the characters and storyline of the original blockbuster.

I started that and it was quite good, I may go back to it at some point.
