Well quite! Our buddy WBA2QPR3, who has been quite adamant Holt WAS leaving, is keeping a low profile on here (so far) but I am sure he will have something to contribute later (normal fat, cheating twat etc)
I suspect the club never wanted this to become public knowledge and the news was deliberately leaked by Holt's agent. That really didn't help things.
Fact is supers, he has been part of holding your club to ransom, hardly something to have a bus parade over!
So happy to hear that he is staying with you and that you have a new player, good day for Gillingham aswell as we have a new manager.
Guru, you know for a fact that any reason is a good reason to have a bus parade in Norwich! We parade what we want, parade what we waaaaant, we're Norwich City, we parade what we want!
I said that he should hopefully stay once you sat down and talked with him, see you had to settle on a three year contract but I think it is worth it.
Seriously though, Holt was a legend to you guys last year and he would have been allowed a bit of leeway if things didn't work out, do you think he will get that next season or will the fans get on his back quicker. Also, what sort of message does this send out to the other players, in a way it puts the norwich board in a weaker position because the players now know that they will cave in to demands1
I think the bulk of the fans will still love him to bits and normal service will be resumed. I would not agree that this sets a precedent at all. It is no secret that GH was a major (and I mean MAJOR) part of the team over the last 3 seasons and has earned this new contract perhaps more than any other player currently in the side. Any other player thinking they can do the same are unlikely to get the same result unless they are considered very, very hard to replace. You need to remember, Holt is not just a goal scorer. To NCFC he is and has been so much more
No, but they went about it the right and gentlemanly way. Holt requested a transfer, he made it public knowledge that it was money/years over Norwich. he trampled over the status that you guys gave him. Sad day for a club when that happens!
Well, we are not the first and we will not be the last. These bloody agents have a lot to answer for.
Very pleased GH has stayed. Not thrilled with the whole drama unfolding via the medium of twitter but thank God we haven't swapped Holt for Whickham. How can 1p5wich be in so much financial trouble when they can sell the likes of Bramble and Whickam for outrageous sums to apparently sane people? Surely if cash is low they can go and sell snow to Eskimos or find some flash-in-the-pan youngster to sell on to a North-Eastern side?
lets not forget that holt handed in his request while lambert was still in charge. nobody knows what hughton has said but holt did say at the time he didn't want to leave the club and that it was over the third year and things that were said. as i say above, we won't know but what if it wasn't about money and he still earns the same amount as he was on before, but now with the added third year? far fetched? possibly, but you can't prove otherwise - you're just annoyed cos you thought we'd lose one of our best players, and you can't deny that!
