In fact he tweeted a few minutes back that he's heard that there will be an additional familiar face at the press conference later, looks like holt may stay

the way it played out on twitter, the day after lambert left was unfortunate, and at the time really got my back up...i was proper furious with him for taking such a swipe on what was a dark day for fans...but looking back to it, i think a few of us went a bit mental for 48 hours when PL bolted...particularly when you think that PL has been such a massive influence on holt's career - turning him from a 3rd division striker to a possible England call up...

i dont think he will lose the fans and i wouldn't have thought the captaincy - find it a bit off you are talking like that - remember what the guy has done for us over the last 3 years...we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are without him, and frankly, for what he has done for us, he deserves a bigger cut of the pie...its all well and good for the rest of the squad, who will most likely pocket themselves vast fortunes because they are PLs young and hungry crew - but holt has been in the bargain basement most of his career, and this is it for him...last chance saloon...you shouldn't fall out with him for wanting the best for himself and his family once his playing days finish...that said, i'd find it very, very hard watching match of the day with him not being kitted out in yellow and green...cant even imagine it...

anyway, enough rambling - either way it'll be good to draw a line under all this and move forward...whatever way that is -

very very pleased about butterfield...he'll be the next one they come sniffing after...fella from rangers is great business on a free...probably not going to set the world on fire - but from the little i know, steady and reliable...

I think we will be able to find goals without him, I worry more about his talismanic attirubutes. Will he have talismanic features is he wants out?

If he stays I wouldn't want him captain, no way. Captain has to lead by example in my book and he hasn't off the pitch.

I said in my post I don't mind if he wants to leave, it's the way he reiterated it on twitter. That hurt and was completely unprofessional.


Agree about the last point about the new additions to squad :emoticon-0148-yes:

Was me Sid mate - you sold Sunderland for Holt to me with the whole MON liking target men etc so I stuck a tenner on it and got 15/1 on oddschecker :-)
 
That's great news. And we'll now see how he "would have" performed second PL season! <cheers>
 
Well chuffed to be honest.

Didn't want him to leave and we would of been less of a team without him.

Thanks for staying Grant. Hope no idiots boo him when he plays.
