Off to Cyprus on Friday. We're staying in Tata near Paphos. Anyone been round there? Anyone any suggestions of 'must do' things?
I'm guessing you mean 'Tala', a village a few miles north of Paphos? - if so, it has a lovely village square with numerous restaurants & bars surrounding it, we've been a couple of times. Like many of the villages just inland from the main coast road, they started out as quaint little villages, but they've all grown up and sprawled out over recent years with many holiday homes built, and they are all populated with a fair smattering of ex-pats, with Paphos being an all year round resort.
I'd recommend you get a car, then you can explore the area at will.
When we go our 'must do' list includes:
-boat trip on 'Wave Dancer' out of Paphos harbour - day trip, 6 hrs worth of all-inclusive drink, bbq & entertainment - It's about 60 Euros - well worth it (hic)
-if you're with kids - Paphos waterpark is very good.
-Paphos hotel beach walk - start at Rikkos Beach at the easterly end of the hotel strip, and the furthest point from Paphos Harbour -walk towards the harbour through all the beach hotels with swim stops at the many small beaches - lunch at the harbour
-Visit the Akamas peninsular - hire a quad bike or 4x4 (or Jeep safari's go here if you fancy that) - visit restaurant called 'Viklari' The Last Castle - beautiful scenery.
-Visit Coral bay & Corallia beaches nearby - longest sandy beaches in the Paphos region (Coral Bay strip, also a good night out)
-Visist Sea Caves - stretch of rocky coastline west of Coral Bay - stunning multi-million pound villas along this stretch - stop at Sea Caves Tavern or Santiero for lunch - stunning scenery - great for snorkelling
-Visit Latchi - half an hour drive up into the hills and down the other side to the North coast - Lots of boat trips from Latchi harbour, or hire your own boat.
-If you're a golfer - Minthis Hills is only 15 mins from Tala - great course with stunning scenery and amazing glass fronted villas surrounding the golf course.
Taxi's are readily available, but a bit pricey I find - may be worth sussing out the local bus routes as they seem to run all day up to midnight.
I'd have a drive around in the daytime, then have a few beers in Tala Square later !!!
