We're planning my brother's stag and Porto seems to be the city we've chosen, looks surprisingly cheap and has a good mix of old and new. Not been but heard great things.

Better than Lisbon for a stag, in my opinion, although my viewpoint of Lisbon is tainted as was held at gunpoint out of town centre by a dodgy taxi driver and his mate. Fortunately was with a younger Glaswegian colleague who had no fear or concept of bullets, who dealt with the situation.

That’s my sort of thing, fabulous experience. When I was 4, I moved to Canada. My Dad took a ship to new owners (30k cargo ship). We got caught in a hurricane in the Atlantic, I can still remember to this day being in my Dad’s Captains cabin and everything quite literally smashing everywhere and the ship virtually on its side. We were very lucky. We then arrived on the east coast, up the St Lawrence to Oshawa, it was an incredible experience. Then over to the west coast, way up north in BC. It’s something else.

Ha, it was back in the day and I was in a mess so didn't totally understand what was going on at the time. We'd come out of a strip club/brothel that was along a motorway and piled in the back of a car, that we assumed was a taxi. Driving back, the driver said something about a car problem, pulled into the hard shoulder and his mate came out some bushes with a gun and started to shout for money. My colleague bent down and the next thing I knew, was him hitting the fella on the head with a kerbstone. We then ran over a field and into some ****hole suburb and fortunately was a real taxi there that drove us back to our hotel. Spent the rest of the stag wondering if the wannabe thief survived.. ha, hopefully not.

Just a very quick ps..on Vietnam....If anyone fancies going, avoid February and the Tet period. Yes, that's the TET...It gets crazy with half of the country on the move with travel and hotel costs going up 60%, 70% overnight.

Yep the special Banh Mi’s with everything are about 70p and local beers about £1 - heaven on earth.

Even a meal out you struggle to pay more than £10 per person with starters, mains, and drinks.

There’s a few different train companies, we paid £47pp for a ‘Deluxe’ 4 person cabin from Ninh Binh to Hue and it took about 11 hours. The cabins are clean, you get bottled water and a few snacks, toilets are okay, not much worse than the Northern trains.

Forgot to say, in Hanoi you need to try Bun Cha, probably my favourite dish I tried out there

Update 1 - They’ve got a table booked for cocktails at Raffles, so I’ll let you know what they thought.

No.1 Grandson was very impressed with the Singapore Airlines lunch…

Hornsea is a decent destination these days, especially for a Stag do. Couple of converted shops now pretending to be pubs and someone said one of the curry houses is open until 8.00pm. Downside? Last bus back to civilisation is 10 past 9.

Maa, there's also a Beverley 'Maa' which we not as impressed by. Hornsea one you take your own 'alcohol' like the Hornsea Tandori, unlike the Sonali (not the Beverley one)...

Now now Trumpton, I feel I must pull you up on these loose observations that you quote. I believe there's 7 bars/pretend pubs, along with 4 proper pubs. 3 Indian restaurants all taking orders til at least 10pm. Plus a quick check on EMYS journey planner shows that you could get a bus to Tickton tonight leaving at 21.49 pm
