How does he punctuate his sentences in the flesh, jazz hands? Pulls a Kenneth Williams face?

I don't recall anyone with a similar username to me but it seems like there probably is with you and Tel saying the same thing. I've never been there on holiday let alone lived there.

    <laugh>

Na, I've never known him to pull somebody up about them not talking properly. He's a quiet unassuming guy, he has a couple of good stories to tell about supporting Sunderland, back in the day, like.

He's not as innocent as one seems <devil>

Now I'm no England lovey, and I've always rated JD. But.......when he left for Canada, he took an easy option, a semi retirement perhaps. Getting paid big bucks to play in a poor league that did not befit his talents. He was good enough to forge a good England career even as he approached thirty, and then he made a decision that took him out of the window. Blame Roy for many things, but for me, he has no case to answer regarding JD non selection.

He went there for 6 months, missed the Premier league so came back to it. He didn't runaway from it, he came back and proved he could still destroy it in a **** team. I doubt any of the other forwards in that squad would have scored as many as Defoe did, this season, with that team he had to play with.

When he made that decision, he knew what was at stake.

I don't understand how playing in Canada for 6 months, a couple of years ago, has affected his chances of going to Euro 2016

But it was a factor in Woy's head apparently.

If it was a factor, I would like somebody to try and explain how playing in a different country for 6 months, two years ago, is affecting his chances of playing for England.

    It simply doesn't make sense.

I agree. I don't know why he referred to it.

It's just an attitude issue mate.

It's what he has to deal with going abroad to a half-arsed league to play for big money, in January with a World Cup on the horizon... Do we just consider Defoe when it suits him then?

Beckham got the same treatment, he got a few more games eventually because we had few options in his position, we don't have that problem in JD's position.

How far do we go back though?

Rooney once had an 'attitude issue' when he was sleeping with whores. I could probably go through the full squad and find an 'attitude issue' with every member of the squad.

Defoe wanted to try something different, which he did, and then he came home.

'Do we just consider Defoe when it suits him' - Has Defoe ever said he doesn't want to be part of the England squad?

I think it's fairly obvious mate, that if you go and play in a ****house league you're essentially chucking your chances of an England call up away. Beckham set precedent so Defoe can't play dumb.

The Rooney stuff you mention was off the pitch, he's never lowered his standards as a footballer and that's obviously what is being considered.

There's no point trying to defend the guy, he bailed when it suited him and now it doesn't suit Hodgson to give him a shot, some things are just tough ****.

Why? I think he's defendable in this situation. I don't tell you there's no point in trying to blame the guy.

I don't get all this bailed stuff, either. He went to play in Canada for 6 months, he was over 30 and it was a new experience for him. He didn't like it and so he came back to the Premiership, where he's continued to score goals. He's proved he is still good enough. I just don't get it.

I don't think Defoe should be at the Euro's, but I reckon the reasons being given for his exclusion are a joke.

You do know I'm not Roy Hodgson right?

I'm just guessing at his reasoning and from my position it's perfectly understandable.

Almost a full (EPL) season he spent in Toronto, for money. He's only got himself to blame.

Do you think we'd be speaking if I thought you were that old maggot?

I can definitely see your point. For me though, now he's come back and had over a full season in the Premiership, scoring goals. Now, he's served his 'sentence' that should no longer be held against him. If that's Roy's way of thinking (and I still don't think it's right) then I think it's time to let it go.

Anyway, I've had 5 horses come in off the belt. Watching race 6 now. Just doing singles, wish I had have been doing lucky 15's and allsorts now <doh>
