This thread has gone off topic, and wasn't about Southampton to begin with. I'm disappointed.
Anyone could start a fight with Mother Teresa. She's a bitch.Joe - you could start a fight with Mother Terasa. Your opinions are valid of course, but when people disagree with them try chilling a bit. An opinion is not a fact.
All our threads end up going off topic! That's why this is such an interesting and entertaining forum!
I'm well aware, I was being sarcastic - I love threads going off topic, it just seems whenever I'm involved in it, I get told offWon't happen any more though, I'm reborn.
Yeah but it's only the very radical fundamentalists who believe that stuff. Most modern Christians and Muslims realise that you can't interpret every word of their holy book literally. Those who do are obviously very evil people.
The Mormons have some ridiculous beliefs, such as that black people are the descendants of Cain, and their skin is tainted black because of their evil ancestry. Mitt Romney (yes, the future most powerful man in the world possibly) had his own Grandfather given a posthumous Mormon baptism, because he had lived as an atheist.

Not sure where Jesus told his followers to go out and kill non-believers. The New Testament, which is the guide for Christians, isn't that sort of work. Yes, there's some wacky stuff in the Old Testament. (Important to all three big religions)
It IS possible to follow the words of Jesus closely and live peacefully. The words of big Mo, it seems, must be followed only partially, ie. leave out the killing bits (quite a big chunk). Strange religion which can only be seen as tolerable if it is not followed correctly.
Mormons....Strange people to be sure! But wasn't Joseph Smith an abolitionist, with regard to slavery? There were also some prominent black Mormons, early on.
Mind you, I've got no time for any of the mainstream religions. Excuses for bigotry and intolerance. Doesn't mean that there aren't some very nice practising individuals in spite of this.
I don't know a whole lot about Joseph Smith, but the story of how he "discovered" the Book of Mormon is hilarious. The problem with Mormons is that they tend to follow the words of their book very literally. If they didn't then they'd just be regular Christians. They're supposedly the most politically conservative religious group in America, so they'll vote in numbers against any progressive legislation.
The mainstream religions are largely fine, and I have a few religious friends who are perfectly decent people, but I feel they're integrated into society a little too much. I had to sing hymns and recite the Lord's Prayer in primary school, and I'm not too happy about that. Also, whenever Obama mentions God in a speech, it makes me weep a little for humanity. Especially considering he's supposedly not religious.
I liked Forest a couple of seasons ago, but after failing in the playoffs too many times they got desperate and ruined the team. Still they have some players I enjoy watching, like Findley, Majewski and Cohen. Hoddle would be next in line of a series of crap managers since Davies left. They should have stuck with him.
I have no idea what you're talking about. Breconsaint and I are having a perfectly chilled debate. Why did you feel the need to chime in with that? Trying to start a fight yourself it would seem.
Say no more. You argue my point very nicely. Its just that so many debates on this forum seem to end up with you in heated, and not always friendly, debates with anyone who disagrees with you. It just gets a bit tedious sometimes. That is why I felt the need to chime in. I'm not trying to start a fight. All I'm asking is that you try and have a courteous debate rather than forcing your opinions. Maybe you don't mean to do it but thats how it comes across to me. Sometimes the written word doesn't pick up on irony etc, if that is your intention.
