Waiting til the end isn't really an option if you want to challenge for the title. Arsenal need improvements to start the season with, not improvements that will be alright by Christmas.

I already feel let down, and it's getting worse by the day. That may seem over dramatic, but once again the club has made a statement of intent & followed it up with jack all.

I didn't mean Arsenal waiting until the end of the window to sign anybody, I meant you waiting until then end before making a judgement on how this transfer window has been conducted. Personally, I think we're going to make a couple of good signings and the mood on here will change considerably <ok> You can thank me then when it does <whistle>

It's already too late for signings to start the season integrated. Once again, the club is a let down after statements of intent.

I think it's a little to early to say this. We still have a month before things will impact negatively on integrating players. I would be suprised if no top signings came in. Should this happen then this would be a big cause of concern, considering we have plenty of money, challenging in the Champions league and have Wenger at the helm. Just Wenger's name should attract a lot of players to us, as they would be willing to play under him.

Sorry, but this just doesn't hold true. There's plenty of time to make good signings and more so, I would expect the real quality players to take some time to sign as their clubs are not going to give them up easily. I think this is probably the exact scenario that is happening with Higuian.

Personally, I would have like the club to have held their cards a bit closer to their chest and not talked so openly about spending big money, but when you have a horde of whinging fans constantly begging for tit bits, then I suppose they can't really complain about that.

The squad is leaving for the Asia tour tomorrow, once again, as with the previous 2 Summers, none of our new signings will be travelling. We simply do not learn from our errors, new signings need pre season, too.

Arsenal are only 1 of 2 clubs to have not spent money on new signings yet this season. An absolute disgrace for a so called financial superpower.

Doubt we'll see much happen until after the tour now, seeing as Wenger seems to insist on handling everything himself

The tour is my point. Any new players brought in over the next couple of weeks in all likeliness won't be going, and will miss the next couple of weeks at least.

My previous post may seem ridiculous, but if you write off any new signings meeting up with their teammates until very late July, they suddenly only have 2 or 3 weeks before the season starts.

Before the transfer window existed players were bought on a Friday and made their debuts on a Saturday. It didn't present a problem then

Any player going on the tour is going to have to apply for a Visa, and considering the squad is off tomorrow, I don't think any new signing is going to travel with them. Maybe if we sign somebody during the tour they could fly out by themselves and meet up with the squad but I doubt we would do that.

I can guarantee you the club would have no problem obtaining visas

Of course they won't but it doesn't mean they will be instantly handed to us either. Realistically, if any new signing is planning on travelling with the squad tomorrow then they will have to apply for a Visa today.

United seem to be in the same boat - their Eastern tour starts a day before Arsenal's and their level of activity has been exactly the same. I doubt either club wants to have to wait to get their targets but to lay all the blame on Wenger's door is simply unfair. He's one component in a vast array of people involved in every transfer deal.

As for assimilation, remember that Arteta was signed on deadline day and fitted in just fine. Cazorla wasn't signed until the second week of August last season and hit the ground running. As usual, there's no point in flying upset about the whole business on 9th July.

Any player who played at the U20 Championships, would not be on the trip. I'm not sure if Cazorla will be travelling, after the Confederations cup, but even if he is, he certainly will be played sparingly. Vermaelen will not be there through injury. Whilst I agree that it would be nice to get signings in before the tour, if they come in before the Emirates cup and the final friendly with Man City, that is plenty of pre-season.

A lot of people thing this Asia tour is a little bit of a waste of time, particularly for the older players. There really is plenty of pre-season nowadays, and a lot of it is more about PR than about training.

Realistically, big signings rarely move early in the window unless they are in the final year of their contract. This is nothing to get your knickers in a twist about.

Tim Payton said today that it is unlikely we will have any of our signings sorted until later in this month. So as predicted, it looks like none of our new signings will have a proper pre season with us. The Emirates Cup starts on August 3rd and may be their only chance go get some game time with the rest of the squad.

Difficult to comprehend how RVP did so well last year, with him not having a proper pre-season with his team. Him not moving until the 17th of August. Of course Aguero didn't join City until the 28th July, when he joined them. What a ****ing disaster he turned out to be!

Mata didn't join Chelsea until the 28th August, in his first season. Of course they went on to win the CL that year, so they had major integration issues there.

Honestly, you keep ploughing this furrow and you are just going to make an even bigger ass of yourself. Of course we would prefer a good pre-season with everyone there, but it isn't the disaster you are making it out to be, if they join later.

What is your point?
