This is getting ridiculous.
From all that my guess is Arsenal learned that Higuain was unsettled, made some tentative contact with the club/agent to taste the water and get the idea about his situation and wages demands, and probably we are indeed interested in him. But now we have no idea how strong this interest is and how much we are ready to spend on this Argentinian. One thing is clear - if Arsenal was ready to spend £20-25 ml, an initial offer would have already been on the table.

Not sure it works like that. I don't think what the papers consider an "Offer" and Perez's "Formal offer" are the same thing.

It seems to me that Arsenal and Real Madrid have discussed Higuain, and it is difficult to imagine that his price did not come up in the conversation, but Arsenal have (to this point at least) not put pen to paper with a formal offer, because RM have presumably told them not to bother, or at least not unless it is above a certain number.

I don't think it is in Arsenal's interest to offer anything, particularly if the player is prepared to tell RM that he wants to move, when he gets the chance, that would/should make his value drop.

We don't know whether RM will even entertain any offer for Higuain, at all. We are told that their new manager has not discussed the future with Higuain yet. It may be that we are waiting for that.

Seriously, can't we just give up on Higuian? It's going nowhere, Real are notorious for being arseholes when it comes to transfers.

Can't we just sign Roberto Soldado from Valencia instead? They're more of a selling club than us, it shouldn't be too difficult, and Soldado is a quality player in his own right.

A lot of people seem to be saying "you don't know the facts, it's very complicated" etc. etc.

The facts are:
Arsenal publicly declared they've got a shed load of cash.
Arsenal have so far signed one reserve team player.

There's the facts. Whoever you want to blame, this transfer window sucks so far.

Maybe you should wait until it's finished <ok>

Probably you are right

Waiting til the end isn't really an option if you want to challenge for the title. Arsenal need improvements to start the season with, not improvements that will be alright by Christmas.

I already feel let down, and it's getting worse by the day. That may seem over dramatic, but once again the club has made a statement of intent & followed it up with jack all.

Or they have been very active and have been rebuffed plenty of times. A statement of intent only covers one side of the bargaining process, remember.

It's those ****ers at PSG, that I blame. First they delayed everything by holding onto Carlo despite the fact that he wanted to go, which meant that Madrid could not start their transfer business. Then those mugs went after Cavani and now Madrid have lost one of their main targets, and Higuain won't be able to leave until they find a replacement, because if he leaves then Benzema would be the only CF left at Madrid, and club like that can't go into a season with just one top forward. So all our frustrations should be aimed at PSG. <ok>

Think we should probably withdraw from the premier league then, because teams are just going to let world class players leave without any kind of attempt to keep them. We didn't let Fabregas or RVP go without a long struggle and Real Madrid are not going to let Higuain leave without one either.
