Yeah good win for you guys against our subs bench and kids, shame there was no one from Wigan in the stadium to cheer...

First we made five changes from the weekend. Second going by the importance that you think crowds have, you should be grateful we didn't bring more. We'd have put eight past you.

Gaston
Why? just curious is all. And, I have a soft spot for the Saints, my brother in law lives in Dibden. <ok> Glad to see you get your first win.

They are a rugby club with crap stadium, fanbase and an annoying old chairman who acts all nice, but in reality he is a bastard. It makes the Premier League look bad when games are shown at the DW stadium half empty, they aren't a proper club, let alone a Premier League one. Something is not right if Leeds, Forest and Wednesday aren't in the Premier League and a club like Wigan are.

The Premier League is an elite league where the best clubs are at.

Why not? Oh let me guess, they haven't got enough history or tradition?

Every Club had to start somewhere mate. And just because a Sugar-Daddy propelled them up the leagues doesn't mean they don't deserve to be here. If that were the case then you could say Chelsea, City and even United didn't deserve to win their titles because they had such wealthy backers.

Time to climb down off that high-horse mate or you could well fall off and bang your 'ead.

Sorry but...
You are wrong, EVERY team that gets into this league fully deserves to be here! Including Southampton. Don't you also have a mega rich Chairman now? As do we Stoke. And of course alomost every team in this league. I did say almost. You think Chelsea would have won the C.L. without massive input finacially by a Russian billionaire? Utd? Citeh? Of course not. Non of those would be where they are without one thing. Money which IMHO is slowly killing football as I remember it.

In short with respect, you are talking abousolut bull cocks mate... as for Leeds, Forest etc. Simple answer is they we're relegated and have neither the money nor the player's to get back here.

Well said mate.

I don't know why its been left to us to defend Wigan when there's a Wigan fan on this thread. He doesn't seem to want to defend his Club!

I'm not upset at Wigan having a wealthy owner who got them success, I'm annoyed that Wigan is a rugby club with no passion and no history that is playing in the Premier League.

It's not a proper football club.

I need a sense of humour, following Wigan! Boom boom!

What's to defend? We've heard plenty of stick from some fans of other clubs. What we've found I think is that we have more in common with people who love their clubs like we love ours, than we do with people who can neither love their club nor even like themselves. We're a small, well run club punching well above our weight - and some people, for whatever reason, are always going to take that as a personal insult. I suspect that's their problem. Real football fans - they love it. They love seeing a club of our size taking on the big boys and every now and then, winning. Because it reminds them, reminds us all - that football is more than a business, and always will be.

I mean, take a look at this guy /\ - "not a proper football club" - never once talks about what we do on the pitch. Why? Because he's a product of his age, a customer who can't see past the brand. Never confuse a customer with a fan.

Wigan is a rugby club. It's not a proper football club.

(1) Wigan Warriors is a rugby football Club. Wigan Athletic is an association (soccer) football Club. They're two different Clubs you plank <doh>

(2) Rugby is football too. Soccer is just another code of football. American, Aussie Rules, Gaelic etc are further types of football.

(P.S. Good comeback HP!)

H.P.
Brilliant response ..
I've witten similar to those words more than once on the STOKE board! To be honest we're like you i guess? so used to it now we laugh it off mate! I've been a fan for over 50 years and it's not Wigans fault that RUGBY happens to be the main sport in the area. NO OFFENCE MEANT. Dave Whelan is Wigan through and through just as our Chariman Peter Coates is. I think we're similar in that, unlike Chelsea, Utd, Liverpool and of course Citeh have money thrown their way as are QPR at the minute.

Neither of our Chairman are willing to just (waste cash) and that for me is a massive postive. We too are playing/competing well above our weight. Good luck to you H.P. and P.S. well done Roberto Martinez for telling the REAL FANS that Utd at home get all the breaks. He should not be punished for telling it, how it is.

This thread was started as a wum by a QPR fan, then became a thread about the West Ham - Wigan match, and has now become a thread about if Wigan are a "real football club".
Wow

Town of 90,000 and we have

The Manu of the eggchaser world
One of the Premier League's finest, and

The winner of the Tour de France.

I thank you.

I'm a fan, not as a customer.

You're not a proper football club.
