Tony may have twisted if there was anyone worth having. We might not be having the season we'd hoped for, but can you say for certainty that there's anyone more qualified to guarantee survival, no or course not cause you just can't predict what will happen.
The position we are in atm, we're just as likely to finish mid table as we are to be relegated. I've never known such an unpopular and divisive manager in my 40 odd years of supporting the club. I know the Premiership and league position is everything to some fans nowadays, but for me it's about where the club is heading long term. In years gone past we haven't had a future, we looked destined to go bust. But now, we look likely to get a new stadium, training ground and owners willing to bankroll the club, all in all not a bad set of things to look forward to.
Manager come and go, Rednapp I think will be gone at the end of the season no matter what happens, but it doesn't matter, the club and team I support will still be here no matter what division we're in. The feeling of winning is the same no matter who you beat, if you're in a lower division you tend to get that feeling a bit more often? So to me, even though I want the Prem, my team will be in whatever division they're in, it wont change how I feel.
But for those who are starting to turn on Tony, be careful, for while he has clearly made mistakes, they haven't been made through screwing the club over like most of our past owners. The new stadium and all the other plans are things we could only dream of in the past, turn on him and we may well lose him and then the future wouldn't look so rosey. He's made mistakes, but has tried his best to help the club. I think we'll be struggling until we have the new stadium as we'll constantly be fighting a battle with getting the right players v staying in the Prem, which we cant do without throwing money at a problem that can swallow millions that the club itself can't afford. The only thing that truly matters is being in the Prem on the first day at our new stadium. Being in the championship until that day will probably more suitable and sustainable until that day.
But the division amongst fans is my biggest worry by far nowadays.
