Tottenham are set to play the first three or four games of the next Premier League season away from White Hart Lane as the stadium's redevelopment is being completed. (The Independent, via BBC)

I can guarantee that we won't be playing a single game at White Hart Lane next season for the simple reason the stadium isn't being "redeveloped" - it hasn't existed since October!

Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs have all been handed a boost after UEFA confirmed a restructure to the Champions League - including guaranteed entry to the group stages.

The Premier League will now have a guaranteed four spots in the top tier of European football, meaning that whoever comes fourth will not have to qualify through a play-off.

Arsenal? I'm not sure that it's of any interest to Chelsea? ****ING ARSENAL? <laugh>
 
No qualifying round !!?? The Goons would miss their summer of :

1. Kroenke making extra money from Library attendance

2. Who is signing, pending based on whether they qualify
for the group stages
 
From the BBC:

There have been three previous instances of the Premier League agreeing to clubs' requests to play opening games away from home, which involved Blackpool, Liverpool and West Ham.

The Spurs situation is complicated by the fact they are 'paired' with Arsenal to ensure the north London rivals are not given home games in the same round of fixtures.

Liverpool are paired with Everton and that worked so why the complication?
 
I don’t see what the problem would be if Spurs and Arsenal had to play at home on the same weekend. There are at least two times in the season when games are played at Wembley on consecutive days.

It's telling that, the more the hacks trot out their trophies Narrative in spite of the wealth of evidence against it, the more it's getting met with the same response: so are the majority of Liverpool's squad also going to be leaving then?

improvement in firearm accuracy (law enforcement,
military) due to repeated VR usage ??

You cannot replicate weapon weight, recoil etc
for a consumer product.

That's certainly true. There is no VR that can properly simulate using a real firearm. As you say weight and recoil (especially of more powerful weapons), and also noise. It is completely different. The other thing that people don't realise is the personality change that some people go through when in possession of a loaded weapon. Some thing about power I suppose. I've seen this even on a range.

However I think the whole argument is moot since if you are shooting a load of unarmed people you really don't have to be that good! These nutters wouldn't stand a chance against a properly trained armed policeman or solider, but they don't have to. Why are we bothering to discuss whether someone can get 25% better at killing unarmed people by using video games (which I doubt anyway) when it completely misses the point of them having the ability / inclination to kill in the first place?

Based on some of the gibberish in that column, it appears the CNN hack believes that VR is the exact same as the holodecks from Star Trek TNG.

What really sticks out is just how badly the hack contradicts themselves within the article: their main argument suggests that FPS games serve to desensitise gamers which makes it that much more likely for them to be another Harris & Klebold, then they go on to suggest the only way to combat this is to...turn all enemies in VR shooters into robots, which by their own logic will only serve to further desensitise gamers to the idea of shooting somebody.

It's also worth mentioning that they even go so far as to use the "Oh but I like violent and gory media, but I can tell the difference" like so many Daily Mail editorials from the video nasties scare in the mid-80s that served partly so the hack could avoid accusations of double standards if they watched Scarface at the cinema the previous weekend, but also so they could sit atop an ivory tower to say they're clever but everyone else is stupid.

The reality is that if you :

1. have a firearm with a high firing rate + large enough
ammo cartridges

2. go somewhere where there is a large enough unarmed
person density (schools, shopping malls etc) in close
proximity to you

then the likelihood of causing fatalities before you are
stopped is very high if you fire in the general direction of
those people.
 
On the other side of the Hacklantic Ocean, it took two scribblemongers from Murdoch's Hate Comic to write a sneering article critical of "snowflake students" who suggested Frankenstein's monster was not the villain of the book but the victim.

You know who else made that same suggestion? Mary Shelley, when writing the ****ing book 200 years ago!
