The BBC are to increase the License Fee in line with inflation.

How about improving the quality of journalism in line with IQs of people who think news broadcasting should be more than a Tory echo chamber?

  2. If it was linked directly to competence and neutrality we’d all be getting a substantial refund! <laugh>

I think that for the money we pay, about one third of that we pay to ITV, the service is not bad. The left think that is biased to the right. The right think it is biased to the left. Would you pay another £600+ per year if they got the rights to the PL?

I'd rather all the channels had adverts and we paid nothing. Sometimes the adverts are a better quality than the programs.

I like the BBC and I'm fine with the licence fee, but the Tories have clearly loaded the political part of the corporation now.
That's even if you choose to ignore whatever the ****'s going on with Question Time.
Farage has been on more than anyone barring Ken Clarke and he's been around for over twice as long.
Every week there seems to be another Tory councillor sneaking on in the crowd and spouting bullshit, too.

I doubt that advertisers would be willing to increase their budgets sufficiently to cover the current expenditure of the BBC. Anybody not watching any channel will still be paying for it. People streaming programmes will lead to reduced income from advertising, leading in turn to worse programming, leading to less income etc.
There is no such thing as free television as we will still be paying for it with almost everything we buy.

I couldn't help but spot a letter in this month's WSC from a Leicester fan responding to last month's article about Twattenberg's handling of the Stamford Bridge fiasco with comments about the "London-centric media" and how "Spurs finished third in a two horse race."

So which one of the Leicester bores that post on this site do you think it is?

It couldnt get any worse. I watch lots of foreign TV travelling a lot. The BBC has gone from world beaters to less than 3rd World. The 'telling the Truth slogan was stolen from Eri TV, the state controlled new media organisation of Eritrea. That tells you the level that they have fallen to.

Paul Merson's crawled out from under the bar to once again trot out the "If Spurs don't win things their players will leave" line once again.

Alright Paul, let's look at the evidence to support your claim
Man City won nothing last season yet they kept hold of Aguero, De Bruyne, Sane et al
Arsenal won the FA Cup last season and lost Sanchez, Oxlade-Chamberlane, Walcott and Giroud

Keep up the solid analysis, Merse!

City pay high wages, the Arsenal players move to clubs who are paying them high wages.
Pay high and win nothing, keep the players.
Pay high and win something, possible to lose players to teams who pay more.
Pay low and win nothing, the players are bound to want some kind of improvement in their situation.

This is in no way at dig at Spurs from me, it's just pointing out the reality of what happens all the time at all clubs around Europe.

But according to far more hacks than seems healthy, it's silverware and silverware alone that keeps players at clubs.

This is why Eden Hazard left Chelsea in the summer of 2016 due to their finishing in tenth in the league while failing to win a single one of the four other trophies available to them in the previous season...

Sometimes with all jobs, not just football, its better the devil that you know. If you are successful and happy, why change? You could end up richer, less successful and unhappy. Like with everything in life, money is the red herring and expectations are everything. You can spend $20,000 on a new car or $200,000 on a new car but when either of the fekkers won't start, you are no less pissed off with the cheaper one.

In his defence, Hazard did a lot of soul searching before
declining to move to Leicester that summer for lower wages.

Does anyone want to tell BBC News the reason it's funny that they have a correspondent named Chris Morris?

The news now makes Brass Eye seem less and less like a satirical spoof so it's very appropriate.

    The *****phile one was surreal.
They got a capital one DJ to say (in all seriousness) that a "*****phile has more in common genetically with a crab than you and I" and he then smashed a crab with a hammer <laugh>
