I've been working all weekend and have kept my comments to myself as everybody has just about covered our predicament from all angles. I will say that having been a supporter since 1959 if we loose on Tuesday then I'm finished with this club, I can't even get angry any more. So come on Mr Grayson there is a lot on the line for me on Tuesday ( mind the wife tells me this is at least the fifth time I've finished with my beloved club and I'm still here)
I'm going to be depressed now - good job I've a bottle of wine (prosecco) - never trust a venture capitalist
I'm m not far behind mate and nany similar experiences (still happy married after 35yrs) and aligned with my team (for life)_that's just how it goes
If we lose (sadly, should that be “when” we lose) to Bolton, will that be the lowest of low worst defeats in living memory? I ‘m struggling to think of any that could be considered as embarrassing
‘He’s the best option for us’: Sunderland boss on ‘unfair’ Jason Steele criticism Jason Steele is beaten for Bristol City's first goal at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Picture by Frank Reid. PHIL SMITH Email Published: 07:00 Monday 30 October 2017 5 HAVE YOUR SAY Simon Grayson again defended Jason Steele and insists he is Sunderland’s best goalkeeping option. Steele’s performances have been heavily criticised as the Black Cats conceded yet another set piece goal against Bristol City in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at the Stadium of Light. Fellow summer signing Robin Ruiter has not featured since the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff last month. Grayson said: “I think all the players should be getting stick because we’re not getting results. For Steeley it might be a little bit unfair. He made a great save in the second half. “He’s not been at fault for either goal – he’s trying to make decisions in terms of when to kick it and when not to because sometimes you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. “I see three goalkeepers train every day and, at this moment in time, he’s the better one for us.” Grayson made two changes to the side which had drawn 3-3 with Brentford, dropping Lee Cattermole and George Honeyman to the bench. The return of Jonny Williams and a start for Darron Gibson saw Sunderland begin confidently, but that bright start fizzled out alarmingly. Grayson is set to make further changes for tomorrow’s visit of bottom club Bolton. He said: “Catts has had [a lot of] games, and I was trying to look for a different dimension to the team. “Changes were made. They will be made on Tuesday night to get a result. “All I try to do is be positive with the players. There are far worse things in life than, and in general, than playing in front of supporte Read more at: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...ss-on-unfair-jason-steele-criticism-1-8829696
He might well be right. Ruiter looks more convincing but he leaks goals just as much as Steele. Either way neither of them are much cop so probably wise to stick with one and try to build their confidence.
I think the Blackburn fans (if that's the right team) said he was a decent keeper but only when he was confident, you've got to think he's not there yet but might be given time and the managers backing. It'd help if he didn't get booed every time he doesn't make a save up to the standard our fans expect. We should have just kept Mannone but hey ho.
Steele may be the best option, what's the point of competition for places if you're not going to drop players for constant repeated mistakes then where's the their incentive to better themselves, I screamed for Ruiter and Catts to be dropped(rightly imo) and now I'm doing it with Steele O'shea, Kone and Jones. If you can't stay switched on and organised, then get out of the team and earn your place back imo.
According to one of the lads I work with Mannone asked to leave - no idea how true it is mind but he apparently said he wanted a new challenge and the club didn't stand in his way. Wouldn;t surprise me if he did want to leave as he probably saw which way the club was going and thought "**** this I'm outta here!!"
I listened to a Grayson interview where he said that we were offer £2m for a player who had 1 year left on his contract so we took the decision to peddle him
That’s the point mate yeh good money but why sell him You really need to spend decent money to get a good keeper We already had one
He’d be away for free in January mate, and remember for all he’s better than the current 2, he wasn’t exactly top drawer was he? Ha some great moments but he was mainly average.
