I thought we'd established that if AN other team come in and offer the same its the players choice... if AN other team offers more Villa would have to at least match the offer.. and thats if wanted to go there in the first place..

He's talking about the sell on not the buy back.

When KLP played he was playing wing back and when he wasn’t it was a team that played 5 at the back with 2 holding midfielders that didn’t keep possession. Really not comparable. Carvalho/Omur v Honeyman, Tufan v Eaves, Seri v Smallwood, Giles v Elder… come on now

There's really not that much between the 2 sides. One will probably finish 10th, the other 19th.
The team was built around KLP too, and everything was geared to maximise his strengths and hide his weaknesses.

Not much between the sides<laugh><laugh><laugh> Come on Shark you’re better than that.

That side was set up every game not to lose, never played on the front foot under Shota

Really? I thought the opposite. Under Shota it was utter chaos and the plan seemed to be to just try to score more than the opponent.

I take my hat off to Grant at Donny, he has got them bang on form at the right time, they have won their last eight games - even beating Wrexham! They play Barrow next who are 6th place, Colchester away who are 3rd bottom and scrapping for their lives and last game at Gillingham who are going for the play offs as well. Donny fans will be loving the ride.

Mr Lo-Tutala seems to be getting plenty of game time in goal :emoticon-0100-smile

I think the one thing that really didn't help grant and it's never really taken into account, is just how badly he was sold down the river by certain players completely downing tools in the season we went down. Just as I hope the truth comes out re how he had to work under ehab, I'd love the full extent and truth in what some of those players did and said comes out one day.

That being said though, we should have still never in a million years gone down and that rests at grants door, just as him getting us back up in the way he did lands at him as well
You probably already know the story about the agent going to Ehabs house and him having papers laid out in piles all over his kitchen? Piles of players he was trying to sign based on data.

Grant was working without any say whatsoever on signings. Ehab was getting players in based on stats and performance data. The manager never stood a chance.

For me Acun was wrong to get rid of him at the time he did. The players knew Ehab was gone and were working hard for Grant. The fog was lifting and Acun didn't need to react so quickly.

Agreed, but it’s history now. UTT. Onwards & upwards

Isn't it well known that several out of contract players refused to play the final few games after it restarted during covid?

The question is whether they were justified in doing so. Their argument was that the club was refusing to pay them for the extra time, Ehab's argument I think was that their final month should have covered it, but the players disagreed and others clubs didn't have the same issue. This all came out in an investigative article by the Athletic at the time, which the club (Ehab) refused to comment on and tried to prevent the publication of.

That was the main headlines but it wasn't as cut and dry as that. Ehab was a tit re it ( shock ) but some of the players had downed tools and started to cause issues before all that. The whole affair should have been handled better by all involved. But grant was ****ed from both sides

Other clubs did have the same issue, a number of players sat out post-restart. Ritchie at Bournemouth springs to mind as a high profile one at the time.
