What on earth are you on about? The comparison and discussion was already happening, you're the one claiming Bowen was showing the form of an England international in his time with us. I've just compared their direct goal contributions, and yes Bowen was better on pure output but they aren't miles apart. If Philogene had a 46 game season with us just like Bowen did, I wouldn't be shocked to see Philogene produce a 15G 10A season or something similar.
Will REACH Bowen's level? Now you're just being silly. For a start they're entirely different sorts of wingers, but at 21 Bowen scored 14 goals and 1 assist in the Championship, Philogene's essentially beaten that just with greater weighting to assists than goals (and he could still end up matching that goal tally) in about 15 less games. You keep shifting what the discussion is. Is Philogene currently better than the Bowen we sold? Is Philogene better than Bowen at the same age? Will Philogene develop into a PL calibre winger like Bowen? Which is it?
How so? You said you wouldnt be shocked to see philo do what bowen did with us Im saying Bowen is a special player and its rare And i dont see it
I wouldn't be. Philogene is already matching or outperforming Bowen at the same age. Philogene is getting player of the match awards in the England U21s when sharing the pitch with players like Cole Palmer. I'm not saying he's currently better than Bowen, not even that he's currently better than Bowen when we sold him, but to say he's not got a chance of matching Bowen's ability and level is just daft.
You seem to mind, you're digging in quite heavily on something despite your main argument seeming to be "It's just the vibe I get". Calling me delusional for daring to think Philogene is a good player.
Not twisting anything, I'm saying to say it's delusional to think he will reach Bowen's level is daft. He's a very good player, just like Bowen was when he was starting out with us. You haven't even responded to any of the stats I've cited (other than to correctly point out 26/46 is slightly more than half ) which says it all so think this discussion has run its course.
He's already at or above Bowen's level at the same age. He may not make it to the same heights, it's a tough road and not always linear, but clearly not delusional to think he could.
Yes, Bowen was a very different player, his finishing was top-drawer and he had a knack for being in the right place at the right time too. This papered over some of his early cracks in his first season where I don't think he scored after January. But that ability, especially early on skewed his numbers a bit, but by the end of his time here he was unplayable. Grant did a great job working on his weak foot and once he had the confidence and ability to go on either foot when he's running at you, Championship defenders didn't stand a chance. Loved the kid, his work rate, desire and drive to improve were phenomenal and that's why he's continued to improve and progress. He's gone well beyond his technical ceiling and his physical attributes (his pace) the majority thought would hold him back. He was probably a big reason why we ended up getting so much cash for KLP too as people were scared about missing out on the next big thing. Acun's management of the situation was another.
Absolutely, and I think sometimes people mix workrate with ability - and there's no doubt the two are linked on some level - but people look at Philogene's laconic style and I think they naturally lower him a peg, but he actually does a lot of defensive running and actions as well, far more than a stereotypical winger of his sort would do, and I think that's something he's benefitted massively from Rosenior with developing. When he does earn his move to the PL, his two way running will put him in a really good position to succeed as he'll be valuable to sides even without the same volume of goal involvements.
Depends on what you mean by close to Bowen's level. He probably won't put up Bowen's goalscoring numbers as they're different in that respect. Bowen didn't get a sniff for England u21s, Philogene starts in a much stronger squad. I think Jaden's highest ceiling is probably at wing back. His tackling numbers are a bit mad and whilst he'd have to work on the defensive side of his game, he'd benefit from the extra space when running at the opposition. His work rate and gas tank are top though. I thought KLP looked the best for us playing wingback so it's no surprise that he's featuring at times for Brentford there and It was always Allahyar's best position for us too, despite his kamikaze tackling.
It's not about being wrong and holding your hands up, it's about not calling people delusional for having a different opinion.
