You've changed from one's to their, and that for me is the essence of this discussion. You and the Gazette have implied an accusation from what Pardew hasn't actually said himself. He may, or may not have meant what you have taken it to mean. The reason I'm inclined to not believe the Gazette's version, apart from the fact they have the readership of a few goats (considering how illiterate that area probably is), is that he hasn't mentioned our other options in reference to them being at whatever hypothetical level he's talking about. If he had said "Shola and Sammy are at that level", then we'd have some point of reference. Simply saying Remy is at another level to Graham doesn't mean Graham is worse than what we have, and such can't be inferred from what he's said. I'd agree with you if you think he's saying Graham in't at the level we'd want a new striker to be at though, because we're obviously looking to push on and Graham probably would end up behind Cisse in the pecking order and probably wouldn't get too many games in whatever system Pardew is trying to make us play. I suppose we were looking for someone to bring extra quality to the first-team, rather than the back-up ranks. In that sense, he wasn't at the required level, rather than not at our level. Personally, I'd have taken Graham as a second striker in the first team, and as a back-up because he's better than Shola. However, I think we want a striker who'll be first-team for longer than a few months, so as much as he's hands down better than Shola etc, he would end up out of the picture if we signed someone in the summer who could contribute to the first team in the way Pardew wants. He's good enough for our level right now and would have made a decent signing, but the board look into the future (so they can flog 'em), and if we're going to bring in a Siem De Jong or a Augbewhatsawhosit at some point, he probably won't get many games. I wish Graham well at Sunderland though. Like I say, I think he's a good player. I think he's quite similar to Fletcher (I'm going to surprise you and say I think he's actually better) but at a much better price.
Can I jump in... I'd actually say both of them have piss poor goals records in the top flight. It's probably more about what they can provide or indeed contribute in other ways to the team.
I was using it as the possessive relating to 'words'. not the indefinite relating to Pardeaux, Gandalf!! I'm inferring from his comparison of Remy and Graham that the title implied by the Gazette is in fact correct.
You've (and partly me) have confused me you ********* You win this one MackemNomad, but I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Yeah... I don't know why I'm like this either... The Frenchness of the Transfer window has possibly melted my brain...
Ditto sir P.S You gits haven't voted on our "who do you think is going down" poll by the way... I'm not saying you have to, but you're not invited to tea if you don't
We all know this is Pardew paying lip service to Ashley and making a smokescreen for the fact they never replaced their top scorer, all window Newcastle supporters were crying out for a new centre forward to replace Ba because the team are very lightweight in this department . We all know that Pardew has no say in who comes in or out this is all done by Ashley's accountants. Pardew may well say we need a RB or LB and Ashley's team take over and bring in players who only tick certain box,s . They must be young , relatively cheap , and sign a long cheap contract but the most important factor is they must have a "sell on value" they play a calculated game . This is why they had no hesitation letting everyone know about Ba's get out clause because they got him for free and made a quick 7 million (ish ) profit. Sometime this may pay off but it is all about moving players on at the right time, take Tiote for example, when he came in we never heard of him ( well I hadn't ) his first season he was a standout player and there was muttering s ( mainly from geordies i have to say )that he could move on for 20 million (ish) But now the lad has lost all form and is a liability on the pitch and his value is about 60% less than a year ago. Because of the system they play , self financing I think they call it, in the summer they will have to sell on 1 or 2 of their assets so expect to see Cabaye or Ben arfa move on , so the team will never progress. The point I am making is Pardew can't bring players in who he wants and he knows they will never buy a Danny Graham type player because Ashley won't let him, because like it or not Ashley's world is all about the mighty dollar and it always will be.
What everybody appears to be missing in all of this is the one main big question. Would you shag Gail off Coronation Street if you'd had a few pints? Or maybe even whilst sober? And I don't care how big you are, she could still deep throat you nee bother.
Redknapp would no doubt be sniffing about though for sure. A wink & a brown paper bag slid along the Rovers bar in Gail's direction & you know how that would end.
I honestly couldn't imagine anyone actually liking the bloke..Surely any honest Mag would agree he is a first class prick, even if they are willing to support the knob..
I didn't say that my cheesy cocked barcode buffoon. Merely that we are, quite factually, the current best placed, top NE TEAM. A simple fact you seem unable to live with. Now who's skin is being got under.
