First round since October on Saturday and a (generous) 26 points total. Funny even after that time off the same old faults. Well knackered after 18 holes on a flat course which didn't help.
It's hard work mate, a six mile walk and that's without hitting the ball dozens of times. Keep it up!
This, playing regularly will help massively as I’m starting to find out. It’s a massively frustrating game but rewarding nonetheless when everything falls into place which it will. You’ll soon find as soon as you start off having a good round that you fall into a routine of not rushing, taking your time over your shots and thinking about things a bit more. The trick is to keep at all that going even when things turn to ****, it’s a slippery slope, even on a flat course when you start launching your clubs at your bag or the nearest water hazard. Happy to take you round Ravensworth anytime (work permitting) if you fancy a change of scenery...maybe later in the summer we can all meet up for a round and a pint somewhere.
Had a game this after, played OK, 79, interesting though because we are now playing off the proper tees. The fairway is firmer now, I smashed one down the fairway of the 478 yard par 5 which I measured at about three hundred yards. My second was slighty to the right of the green, about 175 yards with a five iron. I'm pleased at reaching a par five in two.
Can't wait to get off the proper tee's, what I don't understand is that they had a St Paddy's Day comp the other Saturday, all greens and proper tee's were in play. Come the next day, back to winter tee's and 3 of the greens were on winter..WTF? Mate with the numbers you've been posting up i'd be expecting you to reach a 478 par 5 in two anarl . It's a great feeling knowing you can 2 putt for birdie tho innit? Seriously though I'd love to know how they work out what's a Par3 etc. There's only one Par 5 at my course and I can think of at least 2 others that are borderline Par5's like. There's a 244 yard Par 3 as well which is just ridiculous. I'm pleased we've had some rain cos most of the greens are still covered in sand after mainteance last week, they're brushing and ironing them this week so should be nice towards the back end of the week. Last time out the wind blew me trolley and bag into a bunker whilst I was putting, ****ing filthy and soaking they were....walked off (I'd only played 4 holes and it started pissing down). I'm at home all week this week so hoping to get out for a couple of practice 9 holers before the weekend.
Managed 9 holes after work...things are definitely improving. Went round in +7 (I was +1 through 5). Birdied the first and par’d the second which is always a good place to start. Definitely hitting the ball better and club selection seems to be getting there, left a couple short of the greens but more down to the wind and needing to take longer irons to compensate. All part of the learning process tho. Gonna try another 9 holes maybe Thursday ahead of a full round at the weekend hopefully.
I've come out to Augusta early to re-acquaint myself with the course. It's changed so much since the last time I won the Masters, I may have to take out a full set.
Mine too...today and yesterday. Pleased I went out on Tues now In other news...this looks very bloody tempting...think I might skip the usual lads euro weekend away next year in favour of summit like this!
And Masters week is upon us....absolutely buzzing !! Booked Friday off work Might have a round in the morning and then sit back and watch the action unfold from afternoon onwards.
For all 4 days....you betcha it does. I'm at work Thurs but could probably squeeze 9 holes in before I start and then have the TV on in my office in the background . Might even go out and have 9 on Sunday morning early doors, bit of bait then back out for a full round and hopefully get back in around 1-2 ish to watch the coverage to a close.
I got round in 76, one problem I have is that I start to tire from about the thirteenth onwards. I did par nine holes in a row to set me up but the swing starts to unravel after that.
