I'm gonna have a bet on the Masters early. I'm gonna pick two outsiders, one European and one US/Rest of the World. Then two more fancied players from each. I have my outsiders: Tony Finau - 50/1 The fecker played last year with a mullered ankle and still finished top 10. I think the course suits him. Henrik Stenson - 80/1 Never discount the swede and at 80/1 just great value Its hard to get away from Rory and Dustin too for my more fancied runners.
Both good shouts mate. John Rahm is playing really well at the moment as is Tommy Fleetwood both of whom could be in with a shout. Would love to see Tiger in the hunt, besides DJ i cant see any of the Americans mounting a serious enough challenge, the European players are very in form at the moment.
I'm having a tenner on Dorts and Cronemeister. The amount of f@cking golf they're playing they should p!ss it.
I always pick Finau each way in big events. He has been there or there abouts for a while. Rory has to be worth a few quid at the moment in his current form. This is the one he wants to complete the grand slam and if the open wasn't at Portrush would be his priority event this year.
Paul Casey to win and Matt Kuchar each way will bring much gold and other devine riches to my hidden booty stash.
I'm getting closer to picking my guys. I've decided I'm going on form. Must admit I was chuffed for Casey winning the Valspar again. His game looked in great order and if he drives the ball that well he will be a threat to all at the Masters. His putting is still stellar. I'd have had a cheeky one on Luke Donald if he had been playing. I hope the lad can clamber his way back up because he reminded us all at the weekend just how good he is. The thing the experts tell us is you must have form going into the masters, and generally a good sign is to have won one of the events in the lead up. Casey has done that so he has to be considered. I thought 25/1 was a bit mean though. Molinari is weirdly 33/1. He is getting some cash. I'm talking myself out of Stenson. Molinari McIlroy Finau Johnson Casey just missed the cut.
I'd love a British golfer to win it again, failing that one of the Euopeans. I love watching Justin Rose and would be glued to the TV if he can get into contention on the last day. I've a feeling DJ might win it though.
If I hadn't had a full hip replacement I would have backed myself to finish leading player still using hickory shafts and gutta percha balls.
I might chuck Webb Simpson (80/1) into the mix, Lee Westwood fresh from carding a 60 (surely a course record) at South Shields last week is surely worth a pop at 125/1. Need to have a bit more of a think about it. I still fancy one of the old guard in either Mickleson/Woods who have both been there and done it before and could do it again if they're within 5 shots of the leader I reckon on the final day, assuming they make the cut of course. McIlroy and Casey will be well up for it as will DJ as he's playing very well at the moment, he's just being outdone by a couple of guys hitting the front and stepping things up a notch, he's been playing catchup quite a bit but he may just be pacing himself. We all saw how quickly your round can go to **** when Tiger found the water (twice) on the 17th at Sawgrass.
This is just plain ridiculous :- https://www.skysports.com/golf/news...ery-shot-from-bush-in-wgc-match-play-in-texas Who the hell does he think he is like? Hoping to get out in the morning for some more practice. I've given the course a wide berth this week as it's greens maintenance week so they're all being hollowtined as well as 5 of the greens being drilled and filled to a depth of around 330mm and backfill with sand etc. I've been watching some of the videos on their facebook page, it's pretty impressive stuff like. Not a fan of winter greens (or tees for that matter) but they're planning on having the greens all back on over the course of today.
Squeezed 9 holes in after work tonight, weather was too glorious not to. Wish I’d had time for the full round as I was playing very nicely in deed, 43 (par 34) round 9 holes...everything just worked . Gonna try and get out in the morning for 9 or 18...depending on how hard I hammer the amber stuff th’neet
Go for it mate, I've played three rounds this week, stuck on 76-78. The fairways are firming up now which means those drives go further. Next round is Monday, gotta spend time over the weekend with wifey and daughter.
Can't beat an early morning start. Hopefully watch your ball make a nice line through the dew right down the middle of the first fairway about 250yards ahead of you. And if not hope there's nobody waiting behind you so you can have another go!
I wonder if this guy will be on the greens with Dorty seems to have had more clubs than anyone https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47773297 Steve McClaren: QPR sack ex-England manager after less than year in charge
