I understand the need for the safety car, but I don’t understand why the cars are allowed to regroup and potentially wipe out the advantages gained previously. They are all in radio contact so why, when the safety car is initiated, can they simultaneously broadcast an instruction to that effect with all drivers immediately dropping their speed to an agreed rate. This would help maintain the status that existed prior to the need for the safety car. Maybe it’s just me.
Hamilton with a time penalty. I generally take a pretty broad view of what should be considered a racing incident, but that punt definitely merits a penalty if some of the incidents from last year did. Albom was well ahead.

Not speaking for Tom, but I think the consensus with the commentators was that letting Hamilton through, into “clean air” could have let him build up a time gap big enough to keep him on the podium, after his 5 second penalty was applied.
