By the way, I don't give a ****te in the Kane debate, play him, don't play him, makes not difference to me. The only thing I do think sometimes and not just with Kane, what about trying something different, what about giving some up and coming kid a chance, some teams do it with older players. Pele was 17 when he won the world cup, Maradona 25....at 31 will this be Kane's last chance or will he get another and deprive some English Pele kid 20 years his junior a chance. Questions, questions, I don't know the answers, only fate does.

Jimmy Greaves 220 goals in 321 games (according to wiki) for Spurs, and the best he got was a seat at the final and we managed without him (injury). Maybe Kane needs to get injured to test if Fosse is right or wrong. So who is our future Geoff Hurst?

Greavsie played in all the World Cup group games so was deserving of his winner's medal - would also have fancied him to score in the final - and not just from the penalty spot ...

Plus Greavsie won a couple of FA Cups with Spurs ... and the Scudetto in his one season at AC Milan...

So no real comparison at all <laugh>

It's still not really answered the question, IF Greavsie was todays Harry Kane who is todays Geoff Hurst that is going to replace him? Hurst has a pretty impressive trophy haul as well for club and country, also a good cricketer.....maybe Harry could take up Bowls. <whistle>

Good point well made.

Alf Ramsey played Hurst over Greaves, despite this being a controversial decision at the time (which paid off). Which is what actual managers do.

Southgate would have just blindly picked Greaves anyway in the hope he got a penalty or something. And lost the final.

Hurst actually won quite a lot I didn’t know. FA Cup when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and the cup winners’ cup which is bigger than the Europey Conference.

lol, small teams only? Kane scored winning goals against Real at the Bernabeu and against City at the Ethihad, the 2 best clubs in the world.
Clowns.
Have a look at how often he scores in big games and you'll probably find more than 2 but I'm betting not many more and I haven't checked.

The Germans agree...

Harry Kane has been criticised for his performances against Bayer Leverkusen and the Bundesliga's other top clubs. Harry Kane has been accused of being a flat-track bully by the German media after the England captain drew a blank in Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.1 Oct 2024

Didn’t he have a great record against Arsenal?

Googled it… 39 goals and 9 assists in 81 games against the rest of the Sky Six. Quite good considering how dross Spurs were compared to the others for much of his career.

Was their cup final innit

Kane played 30 games against Arsenal during his Spurs career and only ended up on the winning side 8 times.

14 in the NLD 7 were pens so take that from his 39 and it isn't great especially in 81 games.
